Sunrise of Gilbert is a nice place, but I was not that impressed. I did not like that the memory care was on the third floor. I did not feel comfortabler. It looked well staffed although I did not have as much interaction with them. I knew that they had scheduled breakfast, lunch, and dinner and that was one thing that we didn’t want.

With a great location, nestled just off Scottsdale Road, this facility has very mature, and well-manicured exterior desert, landscaping, and a Southwestern Hospitality “warm welcome” feel to it. This 3 story modern structure has a great front porch with six-plus cushioned rocking chairs, as well as benches skillfully placed around the building to encourage outdoor seating, weather permitting. Potted plants hang throughout the exterior, and the parking area was very clean and well maintained. Going into the main entrance, the dining area was on the left, and the ambiance coming in was also very welcoming. The porte-cochère created an apartment-type feel, and along with the covered parking available, contributed to the effect of a well-done, mid to upscale facility.
A beautiful community, good staff, great food. The apartments are a little on the small side, but there is a vast amount of common areas to make up for it. The community is very nice, well decorated, although its size makes some long walks. They able to care for almost all levels. The small memory care area upstairs is fine, but not for those who may have behaviors more than normal and it seems sort of forgotten up there. The dining and activity teams are above average and the residents always look cheerful and well cared for. This does not come cheap, but is worth every last penny
nice location and very easy to get to this facility is one nice feature. Well kept grounds and nice exterior appearance makes it very appealing. Inside a beautiful reception area, very nice dinner room and great nice rooms private or semi private. What they have here the best is the service. The small bistro style place its a nice feature of course but more important is that they are adjusting the menus and for some people this is very important. I had the gluten free menu and I was surprised how well was done, I was very happy to find a good gluten free chef. I liked the place and although I was just visiting I felt good about the place during my few hours visit.
I totally recommend this place and I think for the services they offer they make a great job. I do think you should see other communities and compare as prices may be better in other places but if you decided on this one I don't think you will regret.
Facility: Sunrise of Scottsdale provides Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Short-Term Care. I really like the design of Sunrise of Scottsdale, it is very elegant, unique looking building – reminds me of a nice resort. The interior is very open, spacious, and bright which lots and lots of windows letting in tons of natural light. The lobby is spacious, yet cozy and leads to stunning staircase. There are many common areas/sitting areas available for the residents and their visitors to use.
For all those late-nighters, early risers, coffee lovers or for those just unable to sleep, can always come in and enjoy the community’s very own 24-hour coffee shop/bistro! That’s right… I said it, a 24-HOUR COFFEE SHOP/BISTRO!!! I mean, seriously, who wouldn’t love to have one of these in their home?! It is a super cute set up and the residents and visitors really enjoy frequenting it and having the ability to socialize in a coffee shop that never closes!
The community offers Studios, 1 & 2 Bedroom Apartments as well as an Apartment they refer to as a “Companion Suite,” A companion suite is something all Sunrise communities offer – it is a great option for residents who prefer a roommate – only, instead of just placing residents together to share an apartment, Sunrise takes it a step further and matches residents with other residents who similar interests, similar tastes, etc. Each floorplan is well designed with cute kitchenettes containing refrigerators, microwaves, and ample cabinet space and full, private bathrooms – the monthly fees include regular housekeeping, trash, and laundry services which enables the residents to truly live a carefree life.
Staff/Quality of Care: Everyone at Sunrise, residents and staff members alike, are very welcoming, always there to greet you with a warm smile and a friendly handshake. Tours of this community are wonderful – the staff members who guide the tours are well informed and readily able to answer any question you throw their way – never have I had a staff member answer my question with an “I’m not sure” or “I’ll have to ask,” which is beyond awesome! The staff members are very good with the residents, always checking in with the residents making sure that they have everything they need. They really strive to make sure that each and every resident is happy and satisfied by end of shift.
Food Service: The food service at Sunrise of Scottsdale is outstanding – as a matter of fact, the head chef actually came from a fine-dining restaurant in the valley! He is an incredible and creative chef who offers the residents variety and beautifully presented meals, no matter the diet regimen. The dining room is gorgeous, lots of available window seating.
Activities: The activities at Sunrise of Scottsdale are plentiful, every weekday is filled with fun activities, then the nights and weekends are typically filled with live entertainment, movies, music, religious services, etc. There are so many things a resident can do around the community to maintain an active and fulfilled lifestyle.
The design and layout of the facility is lovely. It is a single story building that is well-kept. The beautiful grounds are also maintained frequently and well-landscaped. The whole community gives off a very welcoming vibe and I love all of the natural light pouring in from the windows. It really makes the facility feel cheery and airy. The community is always winning awards for being exceptional in different areas and I can, without hesitation, say that they truly deserve every award they get, because they live up to each one of them.
Whenever I visit Sunrise of Chandler, I am always delighted to see so many residents all over the common areas chatting and participating in activities or reading the newspaper. It is easy to see that the residents feel very comfortable in their surroundings, free to roam and do as they please – after all, it is their home, but it is always refreshing to actually see residents who truly feel “at home.”
The residents are always kept busy with all of the activities, outings, and entertainment that the activity team schedules. The activity staff are very creative in the activities they schedule which is so important! It is important to keep the residents experiencing new things – variety is the spice of life and the activity calendar surely shows it!
The food service is amazing here – they offer the residents many options and they also have an “anytime menu” listed with a variety of foods that can be ready at a moment’s notice should a resident have a craving. Residents can also personalize their menu choices by making it their own – cooked to order :)
I am always happy with my visits to Sunrise of Chandler and I truly believe that it would make an outstanding place to call home.
My sister has lived at Sunrise of Gilbert for about a year now. Although it was one of the hardest decisions to make to move her into an independent living facility (she was only 61 years old), it was the best decision we made as a family. She absolutely loves it and we love visiting her. The activities are phenomenal, the staff is loving (the housekeepers give ME a hug every time they see me) and the food is fantastic! Andrew, who runs Sunrise of Gilbert, is a truly caring man and that caring presence trickles down throughout the entire staff. I would highly recommend Sunrise of Gilbert for someone who needs minimal care in their independent living, or a higher level of care in their assisted living or memory care.
I have had several clients at this property. The care provided by the staff has consistently been good, but the communication between the staff and the responsible party (family member, Care Manager, etc.) has not always been timely. The property is well maintained, the food is good and there are always plenty of activities to choose from.
I have had several clients at this property. The care has consistently been good and the staff are knowledgeable and caring. Although it is an older property, it is well maintained. They also offer multiple levels of care which allows a resident to transition from more independent care to complete care as their needs increase.
I was looking for a facility that was similar to what my mother was living in back east as I was in the process of moving her from NJ to AZ so that I could take care of her. When I met the staff at Sunrise and then toured the facility, I knew this was the place for her. I had visited over 15 different facilities within a 20 mile radius of where I live in Tempe, AZ and this was head and shoulders above many of them. I truly appreciated the staff, facility and what appeared to be very happy people there. After one year I can say the staff is super, they pay attention to the needs and the habits of the residents, they work hard to keep them busy & happy and the management is dedicated to making the residents lives fulfilling. This is a great place to live for seniors who want to continue to interact with others but still want a little "independence and privacy".
My mother has been a resident in the Reminiscence neighborhood at Sunrise of Chandler for a little over 3 years now. From her first day there, it was obvious that the caregivers were committed and qualified. It is obvious that the staff do the job they do because they want to - they are not there for just a a paycheck.
In November 2011, my mother required neurosurgery and our experience with the hospital was abysmal. But Tracy and her staff were our lifesavers. They spent time at the hospital with me and my son and also spent time visiting my mother. When mom was released from the hospital, they were there for us and battling right by our side when we felt the doctors were not working in the interest of helping mom improve.
The hospital doctors told us mom would never be able to eat on her own; she would always need the feeding tube (that we had initially been told would be temporary). Sunrise caregivers and nursing staff stood by us and assisted us with the decision to remove the tube. (Mom had a voracious appetite that very night at the facility Christmas dinner.)
I am so grateful to have Sunrise as my mom's provider of care. Because they do care. They keep me informed. They have gotten to know not only my mom, but me and my son. I consider the staff at Sunrise among my friends; they are not just health care providers.
