I had the opportunity to leave my husband, who has mild-moderate Alzheimer's, at this facility for a week while I attended a business conference in Florida and then spent a few days of vacation on the beach with my brother. It was the first time I had left Bill overnight at a facility--other times he's been left briefly with friends. I was nervous, especially since I was going to be so far away. I shouldn't have been. I can't think of any place I'd want to leave my loved one--or go myself--than Silverado Valley Ranch. I assume their other facilities are just as wonderful.
When we went for a visit, Bill immediately said "this place looks like the Waldorf Astoria." While we waited for Tony to arrive and give us a tour, someone showed us how to make coffee and chatted us up--it was a resident. I felt like we were on a cruise ship. Nobody--NOBODY--was in their room. Everybody was engaged in activities, either planned or on their own. The facility divides up the higher-functioning, more independent folks on one wing and those needing more one-to-one care on another, but neither had the feel of a nursing home. Friendly pets, a kitchen stocked with healthy and fun snacks, cozy corners for private visits with family or to curl up with a book--I was ready to move in! They have a lovely playground for grandchildren, and I understand a neighborhood school also brings children there to play and interact with residents. There's a patio with a grill for cookouts, and an enclosed courtyard. The two dogs, two cats, caged birds and rabbit are all rescued animals, and are sweet and friendly. The day is packed with physical and cognitive activities, but nobody is required to do anything they don't want to do. I didn't see anybody resisting--the residents were friendly and engaged. They also have field trips and sometimes take sunset drives. It was more like a resort than a memory care center or nursing home. Even the drug cart looked more like a nice cocktail bar on wheels than a medicine cart.
When I dropped him off on the way to the airport my friend and I were invited to stay for breakfast (it was delicious) while the nursing staff and others came to greet us and make sure everything was in order. You can tell these folks genuinely love their jobs. Everybody--from housekeeping staff to upper management--met us with warm, genuine smiles--and I could tell they know every resident's name. As we were leaving to go to the airport, Bill played the piano in the lobby.
Several friends visited him while I was gone, and Tony kept me up to date with texts and pictures of Bill's art projects and a short video of him dancing during a social hour. All our friends raved about what a wonderful place it is.
Bill was only there for a week of respite care, but he was treated like a long-term resident, and made friends there. When I called he was happy and actually anxious to return to what he was doing, rather than talk to me! I plan to try to keep him involved or take him for visits now and then, and am looking into their day program, since he is not ready for permanent placement. However, if he was, and it fit my budget, I wouldn't hesitate to place him here again, whether for a short respite or long-term stay. Look up the corporate website and read about their scientifically-based Nexus program and watch the documentaries about the residents. Few places live up to their marketing materials---Silverado does.
I see so many people going into memory care facilities that are glorified warehouses for the old and sick. People with Alzheimer's and other dementias are still alive, even if they can't communicate like they used to. The activities and caring staff at Silverado allow them to LIVE, encourage them to pursue their interests, and care for them with the dignity all people deserve.
Silverado Valley Ranch is amazing, and as much fun as I had on vacation, I'm a little jealous my husband got to stay there while I was gone. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
I was so impressed with this facility. It's an amazing place to be, to visit or be apart of. Every staff member that I had any interaction with were attentive and caring, from the dining room/kitchen staff to the aids who assist the residents, the administrative staff and reception. I did not meet one person who wasn't friendly and helpful. This facility has the best of everything. I loved that there is a dining room in each wing of the building not just one large central dining area. Each wing also has it's own sitting/community area with a kitchen that is always stocked with fresh fruit and snacks and drinks in the fridge. Each wing has a door that goes to the middle of the complex which is a large open courtyard, well manicured lawn and a gazebo with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The food whether eating inside in the dining room or an outside cook out event is very good and tasty. There are two resident dogs who roam the entire complex and keep the residents happy. One of things that I loved about this facility was that outside the door of each residents room built into the wall is a memory cabinet, a place to put special items of meaning to that resident.
Silverado Onion Creek is a very clean facility. I was worried about the smell and the upkeep of the facility, because they allowed pets. It looked and smelled better than some places that don't allow pets. I walked into the kitchen and saw how it was set up and it was looked like a restaurant. The menu was full of delicious food. It was soups, pasta, meats, vegetables, and more. I decided to have a soup it was so delicious and the vegetables tasted fresh. The staff was so friendly they made me feel comfortable and I'm a shy person, so I know they're good at what they do.
While driving to get to Silverado Cypresswood it felt a bit secluded. Once I entered the building, I was greeted by the administrative staff. Once you are passed the few offices in the front. It looks like a nursing homes but, feels like home. The residents move about the community freely. For safety reasons you know the facility is locked throughout. But the floorplan allow the residents to go outdoors to the patio area as they wish. Which has a pathway for walking and, a seating area to enjoy fresh air. The dining rooms are on each hall and doesn't feel crowded during meal time. The food is not all that great. It reminds me of hospital food from back in the day. Overall, this facility is clean and maintained well. The staff is very knowledgeable about alzheimer and dementia. This facilty is suitable for only seniors with dementia/alzheimer at any stage.
Silverado Plano is a beautiful memory care community. Silverado has charming courtyards with walking paths that allow residents to have freedom and feel independent while being secure. All of the activities are designed to focus on memory care and provide ongoing stimulation and support for memory care residents. The food is good and very accommodating. Light refreshments are always available for residents who choose to eat at unique times. The staff are very respectful and knowledgeable of the residents individual needs. The care is good and the residents individual needs are met. The building is clean, updated and well maintained.
Silverado is a charming well maintained community. This community is very aware of the needs of the residents and they provide good care. The staff are professional and friendly. The care team meet the individual needs of the residents. The activities are entertaining and stimulating. The activities are also encouraged by the staff and are appropriate. The dinning room is arranged well for memory care residents. The menu is average in regards to taste but very accommodating.
Silverado Kingwood is located in Kingwood, just outside of Houston city limits. The area around the facility has restaurants, shops, banks, and entertainment all within a one mile radius. The property is clean, organized and well-maintained.
The menu options are great, and the facility also occasionally provide snacks to the residents. There was a birthday party in progress the day that I visited. The residents appear to be friendly ,and there is a lot of comradery among them. This is a small community of residents, which I viewed as an asset. The small group seemed to allow for more individualized attention and care by the staff. The staff were very friendly and caring. A few of them conversed with me as if we were old friends. It was important for me to place my loved one in a facility where the management and staff are caring, concerned, friendly, and happy to assist the residents.
The meals at this facility are homemade and nutritious. The chef prepares a variety of meals and selections. The residents are given options for menu choices. Although they cannot modify the menus totally, consideration is given to the residents’ personal preferences. I enjoyed a nice hot stew when I visited, and I felt the food was excellent.
As far as expense, this facility is somewhat expensive. It is in the upper end of the expense bracket. There are many options to assist with the cost and modify extras to amend the price. Do not let the cost of this facility be a deterrence to visiting it. It is well worth the price. There are volunteer opportunities here, on and off-site activities, and pets. If you have a pet allergy, this may not be the place for you. Not all of the residents have pets, but many of them do.
The care is the best part of this facility. Care plans are developed for the resident, and residents needing memory care are given state of the art therapeutic treatment. This facility also does a great job with educating family members concerning memory loss and treatment. Silverado Kingwood is a great place to call home for seniors looking for individualized care.
Located in the heart of Dallas, Silverado Turtle Creek specializes in Alzheimer’s care. It is conveniently located only minutes from many restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores. The museums and theater nearby offer some of the best art and shows available in the nation. The building is beautifully designed on the exterior and the interior. It is a very welcoming and relaxing environment. All staff members have been very accommodating and friendly during my visits. A medical team works closely with each resident and their family to change medical care as needed. They oversee medication management ensuring your loved one takes the correct medication at the right time. Residents care plans are reviewed regularly and when necessary are adjusted to allow the residents' ever changing needs to be met. I did not try the food, but they have a Chef on staff to prepare the meals. If a resident has a special request, they assist in getting the request for the resident. With food being such an important part of keeping seniors healthy, they strive to keep food very appealing. I love that this facility values the benefits of children and pets being around the elderly. They allow their staff to bring well children to work with them and they allow the residents to bring their pets with them in most cases. There are a few guidelines but the staff tries to be flexible. If you don’t have a pet, the facility has pets that live there that the residents can enjoy. There are plenty of activities offered so the residents have the opportunity to connect with their peers, participate in activities and even form new friendships. The sense of community is built through special events and activities. Silverado offers unlimited opportunities for the residents to connect to each other and to the staff. This is one of the only facilities that advertise a 60 day money back guarantee if you are not fully satisfied. Senior living is not cheap no matter where you pick so I believe many people like the money back guarantee. I also believe the staff tries harder to keep the resident happy in order to keep the resident in house. If you are looking for a facility for your loved one who needs memory care, I recommend touring Silverado at Turtle Creek.
Silverado Valley Ranch is a wonderful well maintained community that has a focus on memory care. The staff is professional and extremely knowledgeable in regards to memory care and the individualized needs of residents. This community allows the residents to be independent and experience a homelike environment. The activities are stimulating and highly appropriate for memory loss. The menu is varied and the staff are supportive with meals, activities and overall care.
Location, location, location! Silverado Cypresswood is in an excellent location, it's peaceful, relaxing, and reminds me of a nice getaway spot. Once inside you are welcomed by relaxing sitting areas and for someone like me who loves to read, this is like heaven. The staff seemed very personable and caring. The food smelled wonderful and all of the living spaces that I saw were clean, no crazy smells. This place is a perfect spot for mom or dad.
Upon arrival at Silverado Sugarland you are greeted by inviting personnel. The facility is clean and smells fresh. The activities coordinator keeps the residents stimulated with arts & craft, music, puzzles, games and upbeat energy. The nursing staff works lovingly with each resident and professionally with each other. It's a very peaceful environment indoors. The residents are allowed to go outdoors as they wish and enjoy the flower garden, birds and fresh air.
I had heard so many great things about this facility. I toured and was amazed at the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Everyone was kind and was able to answer questions. Residents seemed to be well cared for and they had a live band the day I visited. How nice to have.
This facility is outstanding. Great environment, great layout and so much attention to purpose. The design is great but the staff also are warm and friendly. Residents I saw were clean and well taken care of.
This community has researched and built both the physical structure and staff to meet the most challenging clients in a state of the art community. Spa tubs, a sesnory room, and friendly pets make this community stand out. But, it is the knowledge of the staff and their kindness that make you want to stay. A brand new building, 2013, surrounds a courtyard with gardening and a putting hole and walking paths. This community is willing take on challenging clients utilizing their medical director and professional direct care staff, including a social worker.
Silverado Senior Living-Valley Ranch offers some of the best quality for senior Memory Care. They definitely exceed providing the quality care needed for those who are challanged with memory care issues.
