Heron House was very reasonable and the people I talked to were very good. The rooms were just basic. We were looking for respite at the time and that was a lockdown situation. The rooms were small but very adequate and had a really nice outdoor area that was accessible without anybody being able to get out or get in. The lady that I met there was very nice. The respite was filling up pretty fast.
I was very impressed with Lake Howard Heights. The gentleman who took us around and showed us the place was very informative and very friendly. The place was clean. I was impressed by what they had to offer. The only thing that was a little discouraging for us was the amount of walking you would have to do to get from a room to the elevator. For our mom, that wouldn’t work, but I was very impressed with that place.
Presidential Place was nice, but the studio room was small. If I need to go into a facility, I would go there. The staff was very friendly. They were playing Wii bowling and bingo and told me a bunch of different activities they had. The food was very good. You could choose the plated lunch or choose off the menu.
We placed my mother in The Presidential Place. She has been there for almost two months and likes it. Nothing’s perfect, but it’s pretty good. The rooms are nice, the whole place is clean, nice. and modern. The thing that really convinced me was, not just the care of the patients, but the arts and crafts. At the other place we visited, it looked more like they were in kindergarten, whereas in Presidential Place, they really seem to treat them like adults.
Lake Howard Heights was wonderful. The staff was very informative and gave us all the information and a call to follow-up. It was really great. They had a lot of stuff for seniors to do. We didn’t go there because it was not feasible.
Lake Howard Heights isn't quite what I expected because they didn't have a recreation area. They only have a small outdoor area. The atmosphere is great, and it's in a nice location. The rooms ware very nice. The staff is nice, and everybody is friendly.
Heron House is lovely and very pretty. My friend has a bedroom with a little living room, a veranda, and a kitchen with just a little sink and a small refrigerator. The staff are very good; we are very happy with them. They have a lot of activities. They keep the residents very engaged. My friend is very happy with the food they are serving her.
We visited Heron House twice unannounced, and the place was spotless. We were impressed. Everybody was great. They took us on a tour, and Pammy, the manager, was phenomenal. She talked to Mom and helped in any way she could. We just felt so comfortable. When you walk in the entryway, it's just so inviting with the chairs and flowers. They had a beautiful lobby and a beautiful cafeteria that had just been redone. The whole place was redone except for the memory care, which will be redone this summer. The rooms were fantastic and huge. Dad is going to be in a double room, but they also have private rooms. Everything was just really nice. I was very impressed.
Presidential Place was a gorgeous, beautiful facility, but it was just too expensive for our financial ability. The manager let me walk downstairs, and it was very nice, but I was not able to visit the room. The dining area was great. When I was there, they had a musician that was singing to them who was quite good. It was a wonderful place, if you could afford it.
Lake Howard Heights is really nice, and the staff go above and beyond. The rooms and apartments are spacious. The food is good, and the dining room is formal with tablecloths and linens. I think they have wine tastings, bingo, and lots of activities. They have an activity room with a calendar of what goes on there. It was nice enough, so I put my dad there. They offered a furnished apartment for my dad and were able to accommodate my dad for three meals a day instead of the typical two for the same price. THe staff member we worked with is compassionate and all about helping seniors.
You could take a meal to your room at Heron House. It was nice, and they had separate bedroom facilities, which I liked. It’s well taken care of, clean, and had nice landscaping. The staff was very friendly, and the residents seemed pleased.
Heron House was OK. The staff was very good, very informative, professional, kind, and sounded caring. I just didn't like the room layout. It was in a good location, and the place looked clean. They showed us a couple of rooms, the memory care wing, and where the residents could go outside in a secured area. They had a very nice dining room.
We moved our mother into an apartment at Sterling. After being there for over 3 weeks she continues to tell us how pleased and thrilled she is to be there. The staff are wonderfully attentive and she raves about the food. All the activities on offer make for an vibrant and engaged group of residents. We cannot express in words how relieved we are that she is so content and well cared for.
Presidential Place is an above average seniors living facility. It has beautiful landscaping around the building and seating to enjoy it. The building is modern, clean, well decorated and organized. The staff is professional and helpful. They share great resources and ideas to help with family changes. The rooms have plush carpeting, great closets and plenty of space to fit oversized furniture. The kitchenette have modern cabinetry and appropriate counter space. The bathrooms are equipped with handrails and clean showers. The meals are served resturant-style and are liked by the residents. Activities are held daily to promote a well balanced lifestyle.
I don't know that a review can fully convey what a safe, caring, professional, happy, and loving atmosphere one finds at The Sterling Aventura. My mom recently passed away and my father made the very difficult decision to relocate 1/2 way across the country to South Florida to be closer to us. I was completely unprepared for the job of finding an assisted living community and all that went into it. Among many other things, Barry Ger handles the leasing at The Sterling, and quite simply he can only be described as a gem. Upon meeting Barry, I immediately felt like I had a new friend, one who would walk me through the process every step of the way...and he did. Barry went so above and beyond the call of duty. He was incredibly accommodating and not only made my father feel welcome, but our entire family felt comfortable at The Sterling. It is obvious that Barry genuinely cares about the residents and their families, and pitches in like a family member to do what needs to be done for the residents. Mary Buchanan, the executive director, is just the same. She bent over backward to make my dad's transition a smooth one. In addition to her total professionalism, Mary always has a friendly smile and a warmth about her that personifies the caring feeling at The Sterling. And, it is the same with all the employees you encounter there from the nurses, the wait staff, the activities director, the concierge, etc. They are all concerned with making sure the residents are happy and well cared for. The food is delicious, also! Truly, it is so good, I'm worried my dad is going to gain too much weight if he isn't careful. The residents will all tell you that this place is the BEST, and to me, that means everything. I hope my dad can stay at The Sterling a long, long, long time! I think the best compliment I can give The Sterling is the fact that every time we go to visit my dad, my 14 year old and I look at each other and say how much we would like to live there! Barry and Mary have really set the bar high there, and the rest of the staff has lived up to the expectations. I have nothing but the best things to say about The Sterling Aventura!

My Mother has been living at Mangrove Bay Assisted Living since 2011. As an only child looking after her in this phase of her life- I am forever thankful I have the staff at Mangrove Bay to depend on. The staff is as beautiful as are the amazing surroundings. It's one thing walking into this place- it looks like a Ritz Carlton hotel, but the staff surpasses even that. The Director, Kathy Wise, has always been there for both myself and my Mother. She always responds to emails and questions with kindness and compassion. The support staff, including the nurse manager Joi and Director Shawna are equally compassionate. If not for Kathy and her staff, the stress level I was sustaining before I moved Mom there (from another AL) was at the point where I was not taking good care of myself anymore- how can I be there for my Mom when I am so distraught? Moving Mom to Mangrove Bay was the best decision I have ever made in my Mom's behalf. I am able to get up each day knowing she is happy, safe, and cared for by wonderful people. I was not able to find that at the other places that had cared for her before coming here. Thank you Mangrove Bay, Kathy and all the staff. You have rescued not only my Mom, but me as well. Bless all of you.
The decision to place my mom in an assisted living facility was heartbreaking. I was her primary caregiver for 2 years prior. However, her Alzheimer’s illness had progressed to the point where it was negatively impacting my emotional state and marriage. I had to do the unthinkable… transition mom to an assisted living facility. I searched and searched and searched for the “right place”. I visited a short list of about 12 facilities that spanned Northern New Jersey (where I live) and South Florida (where most of my relatives live). It wasn’t an easy search because I needed to find THE “right place”. A place that was within our budget and made us feel at home.
The Sterling at Aventura was THE “right place” for us. It’s been a year since we transitioned mom, but I remember my first experience at The Sterling like it was yesterday. Barry G. welcomed us with open arms…not welcomed like it was an appointment, but welcomed us like he invited us to his home (and I walked away feeling that it is his home). Barry has a lot of experience in his field and it shows. He answered all of our questions… he made suggestions that proved to be very helpful in terms of dealing with the Medicare system… He connected us with external resources to help us wade through the Medicare paperwork… But more importantly, he made us feel at home. I’m very grateful to Barry for taking his time with us and making me, my brother, my wife and my Aunt feel comfortable with The Sterling.
Quality care isn’t cheap! The next hurdle was working through the budget. Mary B, Executive Director, and Barry worked out a plan with us that paved the way for mom’s transition. Our family really appreciates how they went to bat for us in order to gain approval for the plan. I don’t know the full extent of the hoops they jumped through for us, but we are truly grateful for their efforts made on our behalf; they didn’t have to do it, but they did.
It’s been a year since mom transitioned to The Sterling. Her mental capacity is limited because of the disease, but she’s comfortable…and that’s all I can ask for at this stage in her life. Mom has a wonderful staff of nurses looking after her. I know firsthand how difficult she can be at times. So to Dorinda and her staff, thank you for caring for my mom, and for going the extra mile with love & patience. Please continue to hire more nurses like Marie-Joseph—she is awesome!
I thank God for the 2 years I had with mom…and I thank God for the kind, generous staff at the The Sterling. God bless them!
I am a resident at Mangrove Bay and have lived here for over 7 years. I first came and lived in the independent living area where it was absolutely beautiful and wonderful, everything I wanted in my "retirement" years. As times changed and I needed more care, I had to make the move to assisted living. My family looked at other places and thought they found "the perfect place". I left Mangrove Bay and within 2 weeks, my daughters made the decision to bring me back to Mangrove Bay, in their assisted living side. Nothing oould have made me happier. I felt my life diminish so quickly at the other place. Nothing can compare to the level of compassion that the staff and management display on a day to day basis. I love living here in my wonderful home and with my wonderful friends. They have excellant dining, entertainment and countless activities. Mangrove Bay is an absolute beautiful place to live and spend my retirment days at. Thank you Mangrove Bay for making me feel like part of the family.
I am a resident at Mangrove Bay. After hearing about the rating services such as senior homes.com, I felt that I should share my experience at Mangrove. A retirement residence such as Mangrove was not in my plans at all. But fate and age change many plans. My wife developed dementia, I required the removal of a lung due to cancer so we were told that we could no longer live alone in our old house. Luckily for us we had a daughter who did research and selected Mangrove Bay as a good fit. We moved into Independent living over a year ago. Immediately we were adopted by the "family" here and in no time at all were comfortable. Regretfully my wives dementia progressed to the point that we had to move her to the memory care unit. Since the memory care unit is under the same roof as independent living I was able to visit her several times a day and observe first hand the wonderful care she got. After her passing I opted to remain at Mangrove where I fully expect to live out my years.
My mother-in-law, Luba, who is currently 90, has been a resident at The Sterling for more than three years. She moved there upon the passing of her husband. Alone and somewhat confused, she had to make a difficult adjustment to a new home, new friends, and most profoundly, life without her beloved husband. From our intake interviews with Barry Ger, and our subsequent interactions with the administrative, nursing, food services and housekeeping staffs, we have come to appreciate the staff's genuine concern and support, not only for the resident herself, but her close family as well.
Luba certainly has her ups and downs, but she has been able to thrive, despite many challenges, thanks to the support she has received at The Sterling. In particular, Executive Director Mary Buchanan, Head Nurse Dorinda Vazquez, the evening floor medical assistant Virginia, each in their respective roles, have all gone above and beyond in working with Luba and the family to assure that she is happy, healthy, safe and fulfilled.
This is a quality operation. You may find places that cost less, but none that will provide the level of caring support that we have experienced at The Sterling.
Being an independent contractor I have had the opportunity to visit several Senior Communities in Palm Beach County in the past 10 years. I have made friends with many of the residents that live at these communities. But Mangrove Bay stands out above the rest. Many of the Staff have been there for years at Mangrove Bay unlike others where I meet new staff on almost every visit. The Residents at Mangrove Bay are more active then other places, a lot more daily activities , and parties for every occasion. The transportation team is amazing, taking care of all the residents needs off the property. I always recommend Mangrove Bay when asked by people looking for a place for their loved one, because Mangrove Bay is where I would choose for mine, that is why I decided to write a review and hopefully you will check it out for yourself. Lastly it's in Jupiter Florida, the best beaches in Southern Fl.
