This facility seems to have a change in ownership and or management every couple of years. I do think the staff tries to do a good job but there are issues that don't seem to be fixable. Even though the commons were remodeled the musky moldy smell lingers. Some of the rooms are kept up but others are in disrepair especially in the lockdown hall that the public does not see. They hire a home health agency to come in and do the skilled nursing duties. They seem to have a nice activities schedule with outings available. Residents seem to be older seniors so the younger seniors would not fit in, in my opinion.
What a wonderful community! It feels more like a family home than an Assisted Living Facility. The staff, from housekeeping to kitchen and everyone in between, genuinely care about every resident, as if they were family members. I can say this with confidence, because my father has been a resident there for 3 years. I don't know if this is the "new" way of Assisted living, because I haven't really looked at other places, but I sure hope others follow the lead and philosophy of Summit at Venice!
