It is important to understand the extent of assistance a senior requires prior to moving in to a facility that provides only assisted living. Also keep in mind that some assisted living facilities provide more assistance than others.
This senior community provides basic assistance. It can easily accommodate seniors who are still active—but unable to cook, keep their home clean, or do their laundry. It is also ideal for seniors whose mobility is still high, even if a wheelchair or walker is required. It is also an option for seniors who will hire a private caregiver to provide a little extra hands-on daily or weekly care.
The activities and outings are designed for seniors who want to keep their day full. The grounds have beautiful gardens for residents to enjoy.
This facility is a shining example of what an active retirement looks like. While this is an independent senior community, it provides the opportunity for socialization that many seniors lose as friends move out of state to retire—or as close friends and family begin to pass away.
Many seniors in the building still drive, and if they don’t—they take advantage of the facility’s group activities, or they plan activities with their new friends in the building.
The apartments are certainly smaller than a standard Evanston home, but they are larger than a standard Evanston apartment—as well as larger than most senior retirement communities.
This is an excellent place for seniors who have always dreamed of retiring somewhere a bit less chaotic than the city, without feeling as though they are too far off the beating path. As a whole Evanston is a neighborly community, but being just outside of Chicago—still has the city vibe.

The facility has assisted living and nursing care allowing seniors to transition to more skill care if the need arises.
