My mom is in The Groves, and I like it. It's very neat and clean, and they have very friendly, knowledgeable, and loving staff. My mom is a hard one, but I feel like they are her extended family. They are a caring group. I really love the people that work there. When we were there, the food was very good, but it's not going to be like your mom's food. It's generic, but I like it. They give out snacks, and they're very nice.
I visited The Groves. They were unable to provide services for my parents. However, the tour was pretty good. The staff was very friendly, and the facility was excellent, but if the person needed a lot of help, they could not provide. You had to be OK enough to live there basically. It was close to the freeway and new. It was only one to two years old and really pretty. The rooms were one-bedrooms and great and had kitchens and everything. They had a calendar of activities and everyone was made aware of what was going on. I would have chosen them, but I could not take my parents.
I have visited many, many communities in Goodyear, AZ. I can tell you that this one is my number one choice out of my top three. It's nice and classy from the entrance to the apartments. The receptionists have always greeted me with kindness and friendliness. I was in the lunchroom during my tour during a resident meal time, and I can tell you that the food was good and portions were sufficient. I've had dinner there many times when visiting and I always was very satisfied with the quality and quantity of food. Very tasty selections however, not a plethora of options. I love the layout of the apartments since they were thoughtful enough to put the bathroom location on the side near the door. Furniture in the show model gave me some great ideas on how to decorate the apartment and it was all very "top shelf". Like a "ritzy" hotel. I checked out the activities and what was being offered and was relieved to find that they offer excellent programs all week long. They also have a gigantic movie theater with very cozy seats. Perfect for winter days to watch "Casablanca". The care that the staff provides is one of the strongest points of this community. The number of caregivers to residents is very high and above average. They make residents health the number one priority. Help with ADL's is also available with medical care available if needed for residents and even for visiting friends and families. Residents are not the onl one's prone to accidents. I really encourage everyone I meet to see this community for themselves because is is unbelievable how well planed it is. Price wise? It's up there but a 5 star rating does not come cheap. Keep that in mind.
I have had several clients at this property. The care has consistently been good and the staff are knowledgeable and caring. Although it is an older property, it is well maintained. They also offer multiple levels of care which allows a resident to transition from more independent care to complete care as their needs increase.
Merrill Gardens offers multiple levels of care, which makes if convenient for patients. While it is an older facility, it is well kept, and there is always maitenance workers doing work. Convenient for those who want or need to transition levels of care.
