Our retirement communities aren’t like your grandparents’ old folks home. Leisure Care Oregon facilities resemble luxury resorts offering great food, good friends and what we call Five-Star Fun. You won’t find our Oregon residents trimming hedges, sweeping floors or emptying the garbage, because we do all of that for them. Our staff is on site, around the clock to provide first-class service, so our residents can spend their time enjoying life. With over three decades of experience, the Northwest-based Leisure Care works hard every day to provide Oregon seniors with the best living experience they’ve ever had.
I took a tour the facilities and talked with the staff and residences. It was very clean and welcoming. They are big on providing a secure facility and put safety first. The team of staff I met was well trained and many have been there a long time.
The staff was very friendly. When I called, they were willing to talk to me and answer my questions. I I do feel there could be more staffing on-site. When I was there I noticed several residents press their buttons, to go to the bathroom for example, I observed some waited for a good 15-20 minutes to respond. Also, some were complaining because they were late receiving their meds.
It was nice to see all the activities offered. They have several different classes and the day I visited there was a van full going on a scenic drive.
I found this facility to be on the pricier side but still cheaper than some of the others in the area. One downfall is they charge for every little service.
I would like to see better communication put in place between the staff. I noticed staff was approached about the same situation multiple times and it doesn't seem like they communicate well with each other.
I spoke with a residents daughter she stated the transition from the family home of 55 years has not been easy but the Russellville staff have gone beyond the call to introduce her mother to other residents, to participate in activities, and have taken time to have a conversation with her to make her feel at home. She said after a time they had to add Wellness Services such as escorts to and from the restroom and to the dining area. She said the transition was easy for her mother and it has only enhanced her quality of life.
I got to eat on the restaurant and pick a meal off the menu. It was tasty I chicken with vegetables. The amenities and accommodations are nice and clean the staff great they seemed to not only interact with the residents but knew them by name.it is on the pricey side and parking could be better but overall it was a great facility.
My parents have lived at Russellville Park for three years now. They moved into a new, very nice 1 bedroom apartment in independent living. (no services required) Eventually, they added care services under assisted living but remain in their same apartment.
My family is extremely satisfied with the consistently, excellent care they receive. The food is always great. Transportation to doctor appointments is offered 3 days per week & shopping on the other two days. Showering, dressing, & other personal care is handled most respectfully. The nurses and med-aids that dispense their medication are wonderfully kind & knowledgeable.
My mother is entering the late stages of Alzheimer's but able to stay in her home with my father. There has been no pressure to move her into Memory Care. She enjoys attending a new program geared to her needs 3 days per week. It's nice to see her smiling again!
I have found from management to housekeeping, it has been a very nice environment for my parents.
Russellville Park has been an excellent community for my mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease last year. Initially, Mom lived in a beautiful assisted living apartment which was so clean, bright and safe for her (which was a cheery change from her house where she lived before the move). Her cognitive decline necessitated a transfer into the memory care unit which the staff facilitated with compassion and skill. At every step of what has been a difficult journey for my mom and our family, the Russellville staff have provided us with tremendous support and reassurance. The care they demonstrate seems quite genuine and brings us peace of mind that Mom is being treated with dignity and respect. She is in a very safe environment while she also enjoys excellent meals, social stimulation and emotionally/cognitively enriching activities. We are very grateful for Russellville Park and recommend it highly!
My husband and I first became aware of Canfield while waiting with my father at St Vincent ER. We were so impressed with the genuine warmth, kindness and caring friendliness of the young woman Jennifer who arrived to take an elderly couple using a wheel chair and a walker back to their residence. They were so happy to see her. She treated them as her own grandparents or parents. We followed her to ask what facility she was from. We chose Canfield because of my father's increasing need for assistance with daily living which is available at Canfield. We also chose it because of it's cleanliness, the warm and professional staff, their spacious apartment, delicious meals, available help whenever needed. We have been impressed and pleased with that same level of care and concern from all of the staff at Canfield. They are very attentive to individual needs. When we called for assistance it was answered immediately with helpful hands. We were never left waiting, night or day. They have always been treated warmly and kindly, hugs, smiles, listening ears. My father passed away while at Canfield and the staff made visiting family and friends very welcome and provided all forms of assistance including meals with minimal notice for family.
My mother is in excellent health and found the planned activities fun and a good way to meet and share time with other residents. She especially enjoyed participating in "School Buddies" which is a volunteer weekly visit to a neighborhood elementary school to assist 3rd graders, one-on-one with math flash cards. This provided a way for her to give to others, especially to young people. This is a fabulous program for the seniors and the young students. I can't thank Canfield enough for all they have done and provided for my parents. I would highly recommend Canfield. Thank you very much Canfield. We neded you and you were there.
I have read all the previous reviews and have total agreement with them as my ratings show. I am absolutely certain that moving my in-laws into Canfield extended their lives. I would add that when my father-in-law passed in 2005, Canfield was very helpful and supportive. Indeed, their attention to my mother-in-law's needs after her husband's death was superb. My wife and I live in California and have been offering to find an assisted living facility near us so she can enjoy her grandchildren and family get-togethers. We were pleasantly surprised when at Christmas she said she would move to CA. Her biggest concern was leaving all the great staff at Canfield; she kept asking how we could find a place as nice and caring. As we toured the many facilities in our area, our criteria was not which one was best, but which one could meet the gold standard of Canfield. After a month of hard work, we found a facility that reminded us of Canfield. Great facility, well maintained, friendly staff, lots of activities, etc. While it was a bit further from us than we would have liked, it was the only one that was on a par with Canfield. Also, Canfield was very helpful during the move out process, even collecting boxes for us to pack with!
My mom moved to Canfield place 10 months ago after surgery and rehab. We visited a number of assisted living facilities in the area and were especially impressed with the quality of the Canfield team and the beautifully maintained facility. The environment is upbeat, friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming. The staff is professional, well trained and helpful across the board -- from managers, nurses, med aids and caregivers to the housekeepers and dining room staff. The nursing team is very dedicated and compassionate.
The range of activities is far better than the other facilities we visited. Canfield has everything from exercise and brain gymnastics classes to lectures and presentations by local musicians and historians. The activities director is very friendly and makes a real effort to find interesting things for each resident to do, whether it's a puzzle or card game in the library or a "field trip" for shopping or movies.
My mom is an avid gardener so she especially enjoyed a recent tour of the beautiful Canfield Place gardens. The residents were served delicious smoothies prepared in the excellent kitchen and the Canfield team really made it feel like an afternoon garden party.
I have had opportunity to dine on several occasions, the food is always very good, selections are good. When onsite, interaction with staff is always professional, they are well groomed and considerate. The building and facilities are kept in good repair and clean. I have clients that have moved in to Russellville and have reported back as to the quality of care, which has been very satisfactory.
My husband's aunt, who was then living in her own home, had a bad fall a few months ago and ended up in the Hospital, then Rehab. I came down from Washington state about a month ago to help her find a good assisted living facility. After visiting several lovely communities, we decided on The Canfield.
Despite her many health challenges our aunt is happy at The Canfield, and rarely speaks any more about going home. The staff is both intelligent and patient----an incredible combination!----and we just can't say enough about how helpful they've been both to our aunt and to our family.
When she first moved in she was part of their Respite Program----something rare to find in assisted living communities-----and her room, complete with bed, dresser, table, and lamps, were ready for her when she left Rehab. Members of the staff also came to her home and transported her favorite chairs and other items---all without cost. I had never heard of any retirement place doing that before!
When deciding on a good placement for our aunt our goals were care, comfort, and fun. Even though she has a lot of physical challenges, she is still experiencing much quality of life because of the wonderful staff, caregivers, and friends she has at The Canfield.
We chose Canfield Place on a recommendation from a close friend of the family and are very pleased we made the move. Our mom has been at Canfield Place for almost a year and has made a great improvements in her health and overall well being. She has become more active and has made many friends. She loves being able to participate in the many activities that are provided for the residents.
I am pleased with the quality of care she receives and the friendly staff including the dining room attendants, who call her by name and are always available to answer questions or attend to mom's needs.
It took me a few months to convince my mom and dad that they needed help, they both had been in and out of the hospital for a months.. Finally they agreed, they moved in in March of 2011 and in April my dad passed away. My mom was so thankful she was at Canfield, everyone took very good care of her and it made my life easier.
Mom has adjusted very well, the staff dotes on her and she loves it. She has adopted nearly every MedAid as her grandchild. She lost a lot of weight when dad passed away, now we have to buy new clothes in a larger size.
The chef is great and makes all the residents comfortable and me too. I always enjoy him coming to visit us at the table and ask if everything is fine!
When I visit mom, she looks happy. Canfield is where she calls home.
Such a wonderful place and feels like home. My Mom has been extremely happy there for the past 7 years. They all work so hard to be caring and pleasant and to provide the needed services for all of the different residents. We are so lucky that Mom is well taken care of and happy and being active.
My Mom lives at Markham House. Everything about Markham House is of the highest quality. It is a small enough building that everyone is known personally by the staff. The cleanliness of the building and the personal interest by ALL of the staff makes it a very special place. There are well thought out activities every day for residents.
I would recommend Markham House to anyone looking for an assisted living facility.
Moving my parents from their home to assisted living was not an easy decision. the staff at Canfield were very compassionate and understanding for the whole family involved. My parents are in a very safe and healthy environment and I have great peace of mind with their care. My parents live separately due their health circumstances and I am grateful to the caregivers that attend to each parent as their needs are so different. The move has not been easy for my mother and I have watched the staff work with her and let her adjust on her own timeframe. My father can be challenging at times and I appreciate the understanding involved with his health situation.
Fantastic community and staff. Awesome activities. Great variety of activities and thoughtful planning. Every staff member from the dining room servers to the nurse on staff genuinely care for the individual community members. Perfect size, everyone knows each other by name.My mom has lived there for over 7 years, and both my mom and her family could not be happier. Staff is very welcoming to my family members.
My mom is the most important person in our family. We all wanted to make sure if she wasn't strong enough to be at her home she would be getting top notch care--but more important happy in other surroundings. She likes the food and activities but more important she feels the people at Canfield are upbeat and competent and helpful. She was at another facility for a brief time and the difference at Canfield is night and day. She likes the activities--a good balance with exercise, outings, movies, shopping--she is comfortable and looks forward to them as well as being able to attend church. It doesn't replace spending time with the person I love the most--but knowing she feels respected and well looked after and happy is the next best thing.
For 12 years now my mother has been living with my husband and I. The last 5 years have been pretty rough with the progression of her Alzheimer's and we wanted to keep her at home as long as possible. For two years we looked at reviews, facilities and different options available so we were well informed when the time came to move mom. This March the time came and we were BLESSED to have Canfield Place, especially since it is only 5 minutes from our house which means I can be there multiple times a week. The moment we walked in, I knew in my heart it was the best place for mom. Meg (the administrator) took the time to talk to us, give us a wonderful tour of the facility and answer all our questions. We also had the opportunity to meet Margie (the marketing and sales director) at that time. We scheduled a date to bring mom in for lunch and tour the facility and had to cancel due to a couple of ER trips with mom, but Margie was kind enough to reach out to us and check in. When I had the opportunity to meet with Margie and review the arrangements and costs she went out of her way to make sure all the questions were answered, the finances were manageable and mom would have a place to call home! On our first visit we noticed how much the staff interacted with the residents and addressed their needs, whether they worked at the front desk, in sales, admin, caregiving, maintenance, and dining! Each and every person we saw interact with a resident did so in a kind, professional and caring manner. This continues to be the case. The chef and his kitchen staff and the dining staff do an excellent job of providing nutritious, creative and delicious meals for the residents. Our 6 year old grandson said the "food tasted so good this place should be famous." and that included his vegetables. Jennifer is extremely creative with the indoor activities, trips, and fun events she plans and the people she gets to entertain. There is a great deal of thought, time and preparation that goes into the activities and it shows. Karen is an awesome LPN,and I am happy to know that she and Adriana and the caretakers are there looking after mom. (As an RN trusting my mother's care to someone else was very important to me). There are so many wonderful people at Canfield that make it a great place... David, Matt, Lilly, Corene, Maggie,Diane, Gail, Brenden,Simone, Roger (I know I am not getting all the names in and I apologize, but you are all wonderful). You can't find a better place for your loved one. Just know that the transition period can be difficult on your loved one, and even you. BUT, the staff at Canfield will work their hearts out to help with the adjustment period and you will not have to worry. I can actually lay my head on the pillow at night and know my mom is safe and well taken care of when I am not there!
My Mother lived at Canfield Place for 9 1/2 years. It was a big decision for her to make and she understood it would be a life change. She was still driving, shopping, playing golf and living a pretty independent life on her own when she was diagnosed with a debilitating illness. We knew that ultimately it would be her decision to make regarding a move. We discussed the concept of Assisted living and she agreed to visit several communities in the Beaverton, Tigard and surrounding area. After visiting Canfield we found that we were always using them as the standard to compare to. Needless to say, Canfield became the community of choice. Mom was still a little concerned that she would be giving up her independence but rapidly discovered that was not the fact at all. She kept as busy as she wanted with the scheduled activities, made some wonderful new friends and was even President of the Resident Council for 3 years. She continued to drive, play golf and enjoy her "outside" independence until her physical condition indicated she needed to slow down a little. An added benefit was when Mom needed to add some daily assistance she didn't have to face another move. She was able to stay in her comfortable apartment and just added the services as needed. I can't say enough about the staff, they were caring, generous with their time and patience, loving and I knew they sincerely cared about my Mother and her well being. Our family was always amazed how the staff always new our names and made us feel like we were welcomed into the Canfield community. We also had peace of mind knowing that she was happy and being well cared for. Mom always loved to have her family join her for meals and we loved it too because the food was pretty amazing. We never questioned the decision to move Mom to Canfield. One day, after a visit to our home, she said to me "Honey, I am ready to go HOME". What more could I ask. We have and will continue to recommend Canfield Place.
My mom lived at Canfield for 9 years and she couldn't have been happier. She said it was better than being on a cruise or a vacation, with all the activities to choose from and all her day-to-day needs taken care of! We visited many assisted living facilities in the area, but this one stood out because of the staff's warmth and genuine caring - it seemed as though people worked there because it was a calling, not just a job. My mom participated in several activities each day and doing so kept her mind and body in great shape -- in fact, my mom seemed younger and more energized than she had been in years. This is a vibrant, active and caring community which dramatically improved my mom's quality of life.
My mother has been a resident at Canfield Place for only 4-5 months. By every category measurement my expectations have not only been met, the facility and especially the staff have exceeded in every category. My mother's life style and comfort is so much more complete than when she lived in her own home. While the change from her home was difficult, a very normal process, she is now in a much safer environment. My Mom's sister is now actively making arrangements to make her move to Canfield also. It is a dream situation for our family knowing that both Mom and our aunt are together in such a wonderful place.
As a discharge planner, I am always pleased by the professionalism of the staff coming to provide an assessment upon return of their Residents. The RN seems to know her community well and the Residents are always happy to be returning home.
I have worked with residents living in independent and assisted living. I have found the staff to be attentive and the facility is very attractive. There are many activities and outings for the residents and it is centrally located for easy access to transportation, shopping etc.
Canfield Place is truly a Five Star community. They provide everything from delicious food to great customer service to fantastic social activities to professional personal exercise training. Even more importantly, the staff honestly care; residents and family members here are all known by name. We have a real relationship with the staff members here. Each caregiver or med aide or server knows Grandma personally and what she likes for her daily routine, her food preferences and her hobbies. We feel my grandmother is supported in her daily activites, supervised in her medication, and encouraged in having fun each day. Moving Grandma into Canfield was the best decision we made. Before she moved here she was living alone and we were concerned for both her safety and well being. Now when we call or visit we have to go find her as she is always out of her apartment having fun whether it is participating in an exercise class, enjoying a live performance, volunteering at the elementary school down the road or out touring a new museum. She has made some great new friends here at Canfield. Grandma is happy and enjoying life which make me very happy. I am so grateful to the positive difference Canfield has made in her life.
