Forest Pines is independent living and brand new. They're in the process of renovating it into very nice, large living quarters. There's very good food. I have a one-bedroom with a large bathroom, a small kitchen, and a living area. It's about 500 square feet in total. They also have studio apartments and two-bedrooms. We have very few activities. I am very disappointed in that.

I visited Ashley Park Charleston. It’s a very nice, organized place. The food was very tasty with various options to select. The staff was wonderful, very efficient, and very organized with activities. If I was looking for a community like this, I would definitely choose to go there. However, it was just too small for me; I’d be claustrophobic.

This is a true retirement community. It is like family here. The apartments are very nice and there are a variety of sizes to fit the budget, if available. The food is great--they have a very good chef. Another posting complained about the changing management, but since 2010 there is now very stable, caring management, who truly treat the residents like family. It would be difficult to find a more loving environment when you are leaving your home and starting a new season of life.
