Ashley River was nice, and the people there were very friendly, but it’s kind of weird as the building on the road is not the main building you go into. The one right on the main road was for Alzheimer’s, so we parked in the wrong place; that was the only complaint. We had lunch there, and the food was good. Everybody looked happy and the people were really friendly. The rooms were great, and it looked like an older buildings but seemed like a really nice place. My father liked it. I know they had a rehab room, activities room, and board games. They didn’t have much of an outside or a yard or anything in the back.
Ashley River was good, and I was pleased with it. They were sitting out in the music room and listening to a little concert when we were there. I saw one room that was small, but adequate, and very nice. The dining area was very nice, and the staff was very friendly and very helpful.
I toured the facility for my father a little of a year and half ago. I choose another facility for financial reasons and ended up regretting it within a couple of months. I ended up moving my dad to The Haven and have had no regrets. The other facility kept him sedated to manage his behaviors. He had no quality of life, could not walk, sat in a chair all day. He has been a completely different since moving to the Haven. Different medications, he walks again, attends therapy and is loved. My only regret is that I did not choose the Haven first. L.D.
Morningside of Lancaster is a nice facility. I am very impressed with their Executive. Director. She is experienced in her field, and this is reflected in the facility. The staff always responds well when an Executive Director is qualified and well trained. This is also evident in the residents. They are happy, entertained, cared for, and enjoying life. Morningside offers accomodations in the low $3000 price range for a companion or studio type apartment. Morningside of Lancaster does a great job.
A nice facility, and great staff. The residents appear to be happy. The facility has recently undergone a much needed renovation. Having worked with several families whose loved ones live or lived at Morningside, I can say their loved ones were very happy there. I believe they care for their residents well, and the management is top notch. I recommend Morningside, but I wish they had memory care for consistency of care in one location. Overall, I give Morningside a thumbs up.
My mother has been at the Haven for almost 7 months now. I was hesitant to place my mother anywhere but I was at the place where I could just not take care of her at home anymore. She wanders and had walked away from home during the night. The staff have been wonderful and helped me to calm my fears overtime. I can relax knowing she is cared for and someone is looking out for her. Although no one can ever care for mom like I do, I can honestly say they try. The building is clean, the food is good, the laundry is done and there is always something going on. I would recommend the Haven to anyone who finds themselves needing a place for their love one. Blessings.
Our family's experience at The Palms of Mount Pleasant has been, and continues to be, wonderful! We have always found the staff to be competent, courteous and welcoming. There is a sense of community and genuine care amongst the residents and the caregivers.
My father is 88 years old and has enjoyed living in a residential retirement community since 2006. He has consistently enjoyed the clean environment, good food and interesting activities at The Palms. We have always been welcomed and greeted by the kind and personable ladies at the front desk. They seem to know everyone and their family by name.
The Activities Department does a really good job of appealing to a variety of interests. Each week, there are flyers handed out, signs posted in the elevators and personal reminders given about the upcoming events and activities. We really appreciate the fact that the staff personally reaches out to my father to make sure that he is aware of activities that may personally be of interest to him.
As far as the food goes, we have no complaints. On occasion, my family of five will join my dad for a meal. The dining facility always seems to have something for all of us. I am always surprised at the diverse menu and daily options. The food staff really tries to get to know the residents’ likes and dislikes. They seem to anticipate what my dad will choose to eat and offer him suggestions based on his preferences. Also, his tea or juice glass is never empty!
My father currently lives in independent living and is able to do most things for himself; however, he has been hospitalized for illness and required respite care on occasion. We have always been pleased with the care he has received. Also, there have been a few times when my father just needed a nurse or staff member to check on him. They have been immediately responsive to his needs. We certainly appreciate their prompt professionalism. It is comforting to know that someone is always available to help with any health or first aid issues that may arise.
We have watched as the entire complex is being renovated and updated. It's nice to always feel that we are in a clean, bright and nicely decorated complex. The buildings themselves have been around for a while, but are continuously being improved. My father lives in a two bedroom, spacious apartment that is thoroughly cleaned and maintained by the housekeeping/maintenance department.
If my review seems very glowing and complimentary, it's because this has been our real life experience at The Palms. For anyone who is in a position of caring for an aging parent, it is crucial to feel that they are safe, nurtured and genuinely cared for. We are grateful that our father has the privilege of calling The Palms home!
I have been visiting residents at The Palms of Mt. Pleasant for 13 years. My mother-in-law, several friends' parents, and now my dad have and are living there. I selected The Palms for my father after visiting all of the local independent and assisted living facilities in Mt. Pleasant. While others promised an outstanding place for my dad, The Palms did not disappoint. Their current staff from sales, front desk, and activities to meals and healthcare for my dad has been exceptional. Not only is he in good hands, but they are there for me when I have concerns. Upgrading the facility is ongoing and equally impressive. I am hoping a visible nursing station is next in the planning for assisted living. Thank you, Palms of Mt. Pleasant for being there for my family!
