Somerford Place is a memory care community and adult day care program in Redlands, CA that has been providing quality care for over 15 years. We have spacious grounds and a variety of activities for our residents.
I visited Villa Valencia. I thought the staff was very helpful. The lady who I met with was incredibly helpful, but I’m looking for something smaller, a little more homey and residential, not so hotel-like. The median age was older than I thought it would be. I probably would recommend this place for sociable person and for someone who is still talkative and has their mental faculties, but for somebody that’s not in that group, it wouldn’t really be appropriate for them.
I visited Leisure Pointe. Overall, they were very helpful, very polite, answered all of the questions we had, and showed us around. I was impressed with the staff member that showed us around. She was very nice and helpful.
We really liked Villa Valencia because they had a pool. We need a pool since my husband has arthritis, and he can’t exercise unless he is in warm water. We liked that it had large rooms. The woman who showed us around the second time explained to us more about the community. Overall, it was OK.
I visited Villa Valencia. I like that they have a heated swimming pool and a nice clubhouse. They also have outside villas. I was able to taste their food, and it was very good. The staff was very professional and very friendly. I enjoyed the whole experience.
Rio Las Palmas was very good. My mother said that they were attentive, and when she needed something, they were right there. They came once a week to clean the apartment and take her down to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Her room was very nice. My mother never participated in activities, but my sisters thought that what they offered was very good.
Leisure Pointe was not what I was looking for. I’m independent and healthy and even when I am disabled, I can get around on my own. It was more for older people who weren’t as independent as myself. The staff was wonderful. The lady I spoke to was extremely nice. There was a guy I met at the elevator who was kind of rude. He was in the office and didn’t really want to be bothered by me. I asked for this person, and he said, She’s upstairs! and I’m like Excuse me. I’m sorry to have bothered you, but then when I went upstairs and talked to her, she was a breath of fresh air. She was so welcoming, and her staff was so nice. They were both extremely accommodating, made me feel very welcome, and tried to help me find another facility in the area. I was very pleased with them. I had been in their apartments before because my friends had lived there, and they’re nice. My friends were very happy when they first moved in because they also provided meals to the individuals in a nice cafeteria area. The cost for the two of them was $1,100 a month. At times, they couldn’t pay all the money, but one of the staff was in charge of working with them when they were on a budget. They can’t say enough good things about the place. I really enjoyed myself when I was there. The staff could be a little more sensitive to the elderly because they yell at people from a distance. Maybe they’re overworked or maybe they don’t have enough staff, but it’s not acceptable to yell.
We visited Villa Valencia, which we really loved, except we did not like their pool. We had been trying to find an indoor pool in Orange County, and we could not find one. So, we would have to be satisfied with an outdoor pool, I guess. The girl that showed us around did not do that good of a job. It was the first place that we visited, so I did not really know what questions to ask, and afterward, we realized that she did not show us the exercise room, and we were really interested in keeping in shape and stuff, so that would have been important. She did not show us the pool since it was locked up, and she did not have anything to say about other than it was the skilled nursing facility that used it. I thought, “What? The residents here do not use it?” However, what we loved about it was the rooms. They had very spacious rooms, like the one-bedroom apartment was 800 feet of something. It was twice the size of what I saw from the brochures that I had gotten from other places. You just had a tremendous sense of space and light. We really liked the rooms. Aside from the pool, it seemed really ideal. Most of all, it was very close to where my daughter lived, which was important.
We went to Villa Valencia and liked it very much. The rooms were large, spacious, and airy. There was lots of light coming in and lots of room to move. It’s beautifully appointed. There was a pool, a library, and all kinds of activities. The community is beautifully taken care of. The staff members were amazing. The facility used to be a hotel, so the dining area was like a large tourist hotel. It was really massive but so beautiful. The wait staff was excellent. If we were ready to go, we might have chosen this community.
Remington Club is located in an upbeat community within walking distance of Von's grocery store, Starbucks, and Carver's Steak house.
Although there are many services/businesses within walking distance of this assisted/independent living facility, most of what is needed fro residents to have a peaceful and comfortable life is on site.At this facility, there are salon services, physical and occupational therapy, activities, and for residents that choose to go off site, transportation is available at an additional cost.
During my visit, the best part was mealtime. The meals are prepare by a chef on site and served hot. The dining room settings allow residents to eat peacefully, tailored meals that offer variety and nutrition. For those independent seniors who choose to at a local restaurant, they have the option to do so. This is a great facility for fairly independent seniors who occasional need assistance with daily living activities.
When my friend lived there at times the smell in the hallways were bad but overall cleanliness was good, she loved the view from her apartment though cramped, food was excellent and the staff in dining room very professional and nice,as far as health care they didn't have a nurse on call but you could always call 911,they had great outings planned everyday and you could take their bus wherever you wanted to shop, not a bad place to stay but there are other nicer places in the area didn't like having to walk so far to do laundry and catch elevator to go down to eat.
This place is great beautiful home for my mom wonderful food lots of great activities always kept up really nice always smells great and very friendly staff the executive director and marketer Paula were very friendly and accommodated all my needs great place
Somerford Place is located in the heart of the North County Coastal strip of San Diego County. The community is only for those suffering with Dementia/Alzheimer disease. When a community is 100% dedicated to working in one area, they do it well and know how to stimulate, energize, and react to the resident. It is a newer community and was designed from the very beginning to be a Memory Care community.
The Remington Club is located in a most desirable location as residents can walk to a retail center consisting of a Starbucks, grocery store, pharmacy, and several restaurants. Remington does provide several levels of care and has very recently gone through a facelift to make it's appearance more inviting. The staff works hard to make sure the residence are happy and healthy. The management staff is very supportive of being involved in community outreach programs to help educate and inform seniors on important topics of the day.
