I liked Brookdale Montgomery a lot. That was our second choice. The rooms were a little small, I thought, and it was a little bit more expensive, but I liked everything about it, and it was in a good spot. There was their dementia ward, but I had a friend in their assisted living and she liked it. The dementia ward was nice because everything was in a big circle. They had an essential gathering area by the front, scheduled activities, and nice little rooms where you could walk in and sit. My mom was obsessed with washing dishes and put them in the cupboard. They had a room with dishes and laundry for people who liked to fold clothes. They even they had a baby carriage and there was this one woman who liked holding a baby doll. It was kind of nice. They had a puzzle room, a TV room, and places you could go for activities. No matter where they walked, they were going in a circle so they couldn’t get lost.
My relative is in Brookdale Northampton. So far, it's been a very thorough reception, orientation, and admission. They were very thorough with the paperwork, and the explanation of the whole process and services was very clear. He's settled in and doing quite well. Dot, who runs the place, stood out to me. She's just on the ball, had good rapport, and really knows her work and job. I think the staff is committed and dedicated, and I felt good leaving him there. It's better than I expected.
I had a a pretty good visit at Brookdale Grandon Farms, but it felt to me like a nursing home. They have a lot of room choices and some of them are good. I didn’t look into the details of this place, but I saw that they have a general open gathering area. I didn’t see anything going on during the visit.
Nursing is good, food and serving staff are terrible. The staff are friendly. Very expensive. If coming for short term care I would not recommend it. The amenities are at the village, which is a very long walk.
On my first day and corresponding with the staff there after they have been very helpful, friendly and always professional. I live 4 hrs away and have not experienced the food or am I familiar with the activities that they do, this is why I gave the rating I did in those two areas.
One suggestion I would like to make is that the nurses make notes in their turn over log for each shift coming on duty. The nurses have been great, but I receive calls at night regarding medications for my mother when I had already had discussions with the day nurse. Maybe it is not that the notes are being taken, but the log is not being reviewed prior to the phone calls. I do appreciate the concern, professionalism, and hard work that they do. Thank you for caring.
My mother has moved here. Yummy food, very clean and beautiful facilities and grounds. Very friendly staff. Secure building. Provides cleaning, changing of be linens. Free laundry, utilities all included except for phone.
