The rooms at Foxwood Springs were far apart, and it was difficult to go up and down the stairs. They only have one elevator. It did not seem like a very comfortable place to live. The staff who assisted us with the tour was very friendly. The rooms looked dark. The atmosphere did not feel as open and active as we’d like it to be. The dining area was very nice, but there was a construction going on. We did not like the fact that we had to be there early and stand in line to be able to get a tour of the facility.
I had the chance of visiting Brookdale. They have a lot of extra activities to keep you occupied. Exercise class, movie room, and swimming. They are a very large community. They offer luxury at an affordable price. They offer fine dining and a variety of drinks. They have a beautiful den area where you can relax and enjoy the breeze. They offer many different amenities and floor plans to accompany different individuals.
The Solana has been "home" to my mother for 15 months and it has been the best thing in her life for years! She has been well cared for by all Solana staff. She is an active and vibrant woman who thrives on the many social activities offered there, especially the daily exercise class, the opportunity to walk around the beautiful lake, the weekly outings to lunch, or just to sit and talk with other residents or staff members. Tiffany Conner is one staff member that Mom and I consider as a friend. She spends a lot of time getting to know Solana residents personally. She even planned a special "Night to Remember" earlier this year where residents dressed up for dinner, sang and danced, and received awards. I really enjoyed the photo album showing pictures of the festivities. Cindy is the director of activities and arranges so many fun times for residents. She also keeps families involved and hosted a wonderful BBQ party last summer. So many others have made such a difference for my mother and our family; Mary, Erin, Jessica, Ray, Marcella, Tim, Don, Joe, Jenna, Lynne, and Laura are just a few. The Solana is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a warm, caring community for your loved one.
My mom moved to Solana six months ago and the staff is very helpful and caring. The reliability of the front desk staff that always make an effort to know her name and her children along with personal tidbits of information. The Chef is very good and will do just about anything he can to satisfy the residents who live there. The other staff members are very friendly and caring; even down to Don in maintenance who is as helpful as he can be. The only thing I can think of to improve is somehow create a listing that you can get so, you know who to call about specific things that have to do with medical care, prescriptions, therapy, doctor visits etc. I think we made a very good decision for our mom and for the first time said she was glad to be home for the evening.
