Regulation of New Jersey Assisted Living Facilities
Back to top Assisted living in New Jersey is licensed and regulated by the State of New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS). Caregivers who wish to work as assisted living administrators in New Jersey must have two years of administrative experience in health care, housing or equivalent, hold a bachelor’s degree, and have successfully completed a 40-hour course administered by the DHSS. Along with the DHSS, The Division of Aging & Community Services (DACS) monitors the health and wellbeing of residents in assisted living and nursing home facilities. The DACS is a great resource for residents and their families who wish to learn more about assisted living programs in New Jersey.
