Caregivers who wish to work as assisted living administrators in New Jersey must have two years of administrative experience in health care, housing or equivalent, hold a bachelor’s degree, and have successfully completed a 40-hour course administered by the DHSS. Along with the DHSS, The Division of Aging & Community Services (DACS) monitors the health and wellbeing of residents in assisted living and nursing home facilities. The DACS is a great resource for residents and their families who wish to learn more about assisted living programs in New Jersey. The DACS can provide help in cases of abuse or neglect through the Adult Protective Services (APS) and the Ombudsman for the Institutionalized Elderly.
