Chris Rodde, Co-Founder & CEO
Chris Rodde is co-founder and CEO of SeniorHomes.com. Chris brings to SeniorHomes.com more than 15 years experience leading teams within technology start-ups and new business units and more than 5 years experience in online marketing. Together with Jay Goldstein, Chris founded SeniorHomes.com with the mission to simplify the search for families looking for senior care or housing. Chris is responsible for SeniorHomes.com’s product development, care advisor team, editorial team and CFO duties. Most recently, Chris was the Director of Marketing for All Star Directories, one of the nation’s leading online referral services for US colleges and universities. Prior to that, Chris spent seven years at Microsoft in various leadership positions.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and earned an MBA at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Chris lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife and two kids, and enjoys the outdoors and trying to keep up with his kids on the weekend.
All of Chris’s grandparents lived in Senior Homes before passing away. His grandmother, Molly, lived in an Assisted Living Community in Connecticut for last two years of her life. Sandra lived with Alzheimer’s for the last 15 years of her life, spending the majority of her time in Skilled Nursing Homes. Hans lived in an Assisted Living Community in California where he enjoyed flirting with the nurses.
Jay Goldstein, Co-Founder & COO
Jay has been marketing on the Internet for 15 years and has a long, successful history. Jay served for over three years at the first Vice President of Marketing & Product Management for All Star Directories. His leadership role was key to All Star’s revenue growing from $7M to $45M. Prior to All Star Directories, Jay worked at Microsoft for ten years in a variety of marketing roles, including Director of MSN Product Management, Director of Developer Marketing and Group Product Manager for Windows 2000. Jay was the first Microsoft employee to be dedicated to online advertising, with responsibilities for leading the online launch and promotion of such well-known products as Internet Explorer and Windows 95. Earlier in his career Jay managed multi-million dollar direct marketing for Citibank.
A native of New York, Jay holds an MBA from Columbia University, with honors, and a Bachelors of Science from Cornell University. Jay lives in Kirkland, Washington with his wife and two boys, and enjoys bicycling and coaching kids baseball.
Jay stays in close contact with his two aunts who currently live in Independent Living and Assisted Living communities in Maryland and Missouri, respectively. Another aunt was in an Alzheimer’s Care Community in California before passing away in 2008. Jay’s grandmother lived in a skilled nursing facility in New York where his father served on the Board of Directors.
Tom Blumer, CTO
Tom has over 30 years of experience in software development, including key positions in three successful start-ups. As the first developer and later development manager at All Star Directories, Tom led the development of the All Star websites and the building of a development team. He was an early member of the Vermeer Technologies development team in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which created the FrontPage product and was acquired by Microsoft.
Tom was the co-founder of Software Associates, which developed software for the first IBM PCs and was acquired by Phoenix Technologies in 1987. Tom started his career at Bell Labs where he helped with the first port of Unix to a micro-processor and taught Unix kernel courses. At Bolt, Beranek and Newman, he worked on automated implementation and verification of computer communication protocols, working on early versions of the TCP protocol implementation for the Internet, and serving as a member on several ISO committees for protocol standards. He holds 10 patents relating to web authoring tools and laser printer technology, and is the author of over 20 technical publications in the field of computer communications protocols.
Tom lives in Bellevue, Washington with his wife, and enjoys travel, learning Spanish, playing guitar and music. Tom and his wife are happily enjoying their empty nest with their two boys now in college.
