Redmond Overview
The city of Redmond is home to a growing number of assisted living residences. Nestled in the heart of the Sammamish Valley at the north end of Lake Sammamish, suburban Redmond offers residents of Redmond senior living communities the best of both worlds: sweeping views of the Cascade Mountains and evergreen forests, and easy proximity to downtown Seattle, just 20 miles west.

Another favorite is Idylwood Park on Lake Sammamish, which offers a beach, fishing and a picnic area.
Redmond Town Center is a stylish open air mall offering shopping, restaurants and movies. It includes the Village Roadshow Gold Class Cinema, where patrons enjoy gourmet cuisine and wine during the show-and live professional theatre at SecondStory Repertory.
Redmond Activities
The Redmond Senior Center caters to the Redmond assisted living community. Seniors can play cards, billiards or shuffleboard; garden in the greenhouse, make and sell crafts in the Crafters’ Gallery. The center also offers line dancing classes and group outings to casinos and sports events.
The Redmond Senior Center has its own library, houses a community theatre, and offers massage therapy, clinics and wellness classes. Area agencies partner with the center to offer legal, insurance and tax assistance. Handicapped-accessible transportation is available to and from the Center for a nominal fee.
Music buffs will also appreciate the Eastside Symphony, Redmond’s amateur classical orchestra.
Redmond Medical Facilities
Redmond senior living residences enjoy easy access Overlake Hospital Medical Center in nearby Bellevue, which is home to one of the nation’s top 100 cardiac facilities. Redmond seniors are also just fifteen minutes away from Evergreen Hospital Medical Center in nearby Kirkland which offers free senior health classes and screenings.
Redmond senior living communities are also close to Group Health’s Redmond Medical Center which opened its new facility in 2008.
Redmond Transportation
The Redmond Senior Center provides Redmond assisted living and other senior residents weekly transportation for grocery shopping. The Metro Transit public bus system offers transportation within King County. The Metro ACCESS program offers door-to-door van transportation for people 65 and over, and to those unable to use regular bus service. Assisted living residents and those with special needs can also utilize Find-a-Ride, a service which links riders and transportation services throughout the central Puget Sound area.
