McMinnville Nursing Home Info

McMinnville Nursing HomesYou’ll find McMinnville among the vineyards that line the rolling hills and hazelnut orchards spread across the lush Willamette River valley.

McMinnville is ideally situated halfway between the major urban areas of Portland and Salem providing McMinnville nursing home residents access to some of the best medical care in the state while retaining the peaceful surroundings of a small town.

Protected by the Coast Mountain Range, the weather here is mild during the summer and winter months.

Nursing homes are facilities specially-equipped to care for patients who have serious chronic illnesses or disabilities requiring skilled nursing. Seniors in assisted living homes, however, need assistance with some or all of their daily living activities such as preparing meals, bathing or taking medications. To learn more about assisted living, see our article on McMinnville Assisted Living.

McMinnville Medical Facilities

The Willamette Valley Medical Center is right in heart of McMinnville, close to many of the city’s nursing homes. The modern facility has all the latest tools to provide the best care possible to McMinnville nursing home residents. There’s state-of-the-art imaging service with an open MRI scanner, one of two in the state, providing quality images without the claustrophobic feeling of traditional closed MRI scanners. The Center’s new high-speed CT scanner captures images of whole organs in seconds helping physicians quickly diagnose patients in life-threatening situations.

Open 24/7, the Emergency Department continually strives to reduce the time McMinnville nursing home residents must wait for treatment.

McMinnville’s central location offers nursing home seniors the opportunity to seek treatment at major metropolitan hospitals such as Oregon Health & Science University in neighboring Portland to the north or Salem Hospital in Salem to the south.

McMinnville Parks & Recreation

Spend time with family at one of the several parks scattered across the city. Wortman Park, one of McMinnville’s largest parks, is filled with an abundance of trees and a small stream running through it. It’s a great place to relax in nature under the shade of the park trees.

The Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum is home of the largest wooden flying boat, Howard Hughes’ “Spruce Goose,” with over 150 historic aircraft, spacecraft and exhibits. The museum’s IMAX theater is the largest in the Pacific Northwest.

Summer arrives with the opening of the Thursday Farmers’ Market and Brown Bag Concerts. At Noon on Thursdays, seniors can enjoy lunch with live music by artists performing everything from Celtic to blues, jazz to folk, and swing to Latin. Take a quick visit to the Farmers’ Market stalls for delicious treat or snack. It’s a great destination as an outing for McMinnville nursing home residents.
