Named after Hiram Morgan Hill, a wealthy San Franciscan who built his large ranch estate on the site in 1884, the city of Morgan Hill has evolved from a minor stop along the Southern Pacific Railroad into a thriving city of over 33,000 residents.
Its convenient location just 12 miles south of San Jose and only 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean draws in workers from Silicon Valley who are also attracted to the town’s close-knit community and affordable housing.
Morgan Hill assisted living residents enjoy the best of a California climate, small-town living and access to big-city amenities.
Morgan Hill Recreation
The city’s small-town charm and peaceful surroundings provide its residents with recreational activities designed for a relaxed style of living. Morgan Hill senior living residents enjoy several parks within the city where they stroll amidst a backdrop of rolling hills and mountain ranges.
Every year, the city holds an annual Mushroom Mardi Gras and a Fourth-of-July parade where residents delight in the festivities together. During the summer, seniors enjoy trips to the popular Farmers’ Market and Friday night concert series.
Among the programs designed to promote physical fitness for those 50 years and older are chair yoga, Pilates and low impact arthritis.
At the Center, seniors can also attend scheduled assistance programs such as legal consultations, medical screenings and tax preparation sessions. These are services are provided free to residents aged 50 and older.
Morgan Hill Medical Facilities
There are several small hospitals and clinics within the city limits that care for the health of Morgan Hill senior living residents. But for more specialized medical services, many residents travel to Saint Louise Regional Hospital in nearby Gilroy which is known for its diagnostic imaging, surgical, breast and wound care services.
A member of the Daughters of Charity Healthy System, Saint Louise has been caring for the South Bay community since 1989. It will soon be opening a brand new facility right in the heart of Morgan Hill to provide much needed health care services to its residents.
