The outside of this facility looks like a lush green wonderland. Brookdale North Austin has such amazing landscaping it’s hard not to be impressed. There are plenty of walking paths at this facility with cute little shrubs and bushes along the way. There’s even a gazebo surrounded by well-manicured plants. I find the outside of this facility to be a rather strong pro to facility. The landscaping is so nice; it feels very much like green paradise.
Inside the facility is quite nice as well. The dining hall is very expansive and open and the tables are far enough apart to give every resident a sense of privacy while they dine. The food options here were quite varied and the menu items looked very good. I had the chicken here and it tasted fairly good. Besides the dining room, the rest of the facility is very nice as well. There are a lot of windows that let in plenty of natural sunlight.
All the natural light gives Brookdale North Austin a sunny atmosphere. The building has plenty of great features and plenty of amenities. There was a nice media room with a television and plenty of recreational areas throughout the building for residents to sit and socialize. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and I found the residents to seem quite happy here. Brookdale North Austin isn’t in too bad of an area.
Though there aren’t any establishments in walking distance, on HWY 183 are plenty of establishments. There are plenty of places to eat and shop nearby; they just aren’t in immediate proximity. You have to go across the highway to see all the major establishments. Overall, Brookdale North Austin is a cozy facility with plenty of charm. Though its location may not be the most idea, it’s in a genuinely good area.
There are also plenty of great activities at this building that are hosted regularly. The event calendar at Brookdale North Austin seems to always remain full. With so many activities, I doubt residents are ever bored. Overall, Brookdale North Austin is a great facility with amazing curb appeal.
Brookdale New Braunfels is located off a main road, near a very quiet community in New Braunfels, TX. The facility is a few miles from major shopping and restaurants, but this is a retirement community filled with everything needed for seniors right on site.
This area can be a little busy at times, but the facility is safe, secure, and offers plenty of walking areas on the property. When I first arrived at the property, I noticed the plush landscaping and home-like design. This facility is beautiful inside and out, with clean common areas, open floor plan, and a warm atmosphere.
The facility offers assistance with activities of daily living, ambulation, and meals. There is full time housekeeping and laundry services available. The amenities include a salon, activity room, and media room. Some of the residents had dogs, which is something that should be considered for seniors who do wish to be around dogs. The resident population is small and friendly.
There is a fulltime activity director who is upbeat and friendly. There are many activities available at the facility. Parties, games, and craft classes to name a few. Many events are planned off site as well, so seniors will be busy at Brookdale New Braunfels.
The meals are fair in variety, and above average in taste. The food is not well seasoned due to diet restrictions of some of the residents, but it was still very good. The dining room is clean, and family-style dining is how meals are served here three times per day. The dining room is a little congested, and lacking in décor, but it is comfortable and adequate.
Most of the residents appeared to need assistance with walking and moving around. A few seemed to independently move about and socialize. I would choose this facility for seniors looking for a small community of residents to socialize with and a family-style environment. The staff members that I observed appeared to be nice and very patient, and everyone seemed to be attended to. There is not a lot to do in the area within about four or five miles.
I really like this facility. Brookdale Westlake Hills is a nice facility with plenty of cool amenities. This facility is very large with plenty of places to walk. There were plenty of paved walking trails for those looking to walk and get some exercise and plenty of areas to sit along the way in case residents would like to stop and rest. This facility is modern, which I feel is a big plus. It has excellent curb appeal and even better landscaping.
Brookdale Westlake Hills has plenty of amenities including a pool, salon and a library just to name a few. This facility’s amenities also include numerous seating areas and recreational areas, many of which would be perfect for entertaining or simply sitting down with friends. The atmosphere of this facility is very nice too. The facility has plenty of activities that are hosted to insure residents always have fun. The variety of these activities was also a nice plus.
The dining area of this facility was clean. There appears to be plenty of menu options to insure residents have plenty of variety in their meals. I also found that the food tasted good and was cooked very well. The outdoor areas of the facility are quite nice and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy nature. I even sat out in one of these areas briefly.
Brookdale Westlake Hills is also in a fairly good area. It’s not very far from many stores and there also seems to be a good number of places to eat around the facility as well. Another thing I liked about this facility was that it had a lot of trees which I felt were quite nice. This facility is a great facility with plenty of amenities to keep residents busy. The pool area was very large and nestled nicely between the buildings.
Brookdale Westlake Hills is a facility that certainly should not be skipped over. It has great amenities to keep residents happy and a good location to provide residents with a place to go outside the facility (should they choose to.)
Brookdale Spicewood Springs has such a cozy and comfortable gazebo; I’d sit out there all day if I had the chance! The facility grounds are very nice with superb landscaping. As I mentioned previously, there’s a very nice gazebo on property with cute benches next to it. The trees in this area provide shade. If given the chance, I’d certainly sit in this area all day as it feels so quiet and peaceful. One of the things I like at this facility is its outdoor spaces. Brookdale Spicewood Springs has no shortage of outdoor seating areas and paved walking paths.
Brookdale Spicewood Springs also has a very prime location. This facility is actually located behind a supermarket, so walking to the store is very easy at this facility. There are also plenty of pizza places and other eateries in the general area as well as a few stores and services. Considering its nearly built against a supermarket, I’d have to say that this facility gets an A+ in terms of location. Being able to walk to the grocery store is a very big plus to any prospective resident I’m sure.
Besides its location, Brookdale Spicewood Springs also does very well in the food department. The dining hall is very nice and cozy and there I had a grilled cheese made with two different cheeses. I thought it was delicious, well made and a unique addition to classic grilled cheeses. The menu has good variety and that’s what I like about this facility. The meals always seem well prepared.
The activities here are good as well. There seems to be plenty of activities being hosted constantly. There’s good variety in the activities and that’s what makes them so great. Brookdale Spicewood Springs is a pretty clean facility as well. I didn’t see any trash or anything disorderly. The facility had very rustic and cozy décor, but could use a bit of updating in my opinion.
I think Brookdale Spicewood Springs is a great facility with much to love. Its location is as good as it gets considering you can walk to the supermarket behind it.
If you’re looking for a facility with great outdoor areas, Horizon Bay Round Rock sudden comes to mind. This facility has many paved walking paths and garden areas for residents to admire and stroll. The facility is also well landscaped and the outside of the facility is well maintained. Horizon Bay Round Rock certainly has plenty of curb appeal and much to love about the property. There are also outdoor sitting areas for residents who’d like to sit out and enjoy the fresh air.
Horizon Bay Round Rock has a very huge and open lobby. The lobby area has a few sitting areas and is very clean with a good layout. Staff greeted me when I entered and seemed genuinely friendly. The facility has a very rustic feel to it, but it still feels very modern and doesn’t feel the least bit outdated. The building has lots of character and the décor of the facility was charmingly fitting.
The dining hall was very nice and smelled very good when I first entered it. The dining area was quite spacious and moderately clean. The meals had a good amount of variety and the food was pretty good. Horizon Bay Round Rock also hosts regular activities for the residents who reside here. There seems to be a good amount of variety in the activities and there wasn’t too much repetition in the types that were hosted.
There’s also an in house salon and barber shop. As far as the location, the facility is located in a pretty good area. Not too far from the facility are a few stores, a bank and a couple places to eat. There is also a hospital that isn’t too far away from the facility. Overall Horizon Bay Round Rock is a great facility. The facility has plenty of character without looking outdated or archaic. The location is close to a few establishments which is also a plus.
The outdoor areas of the facility were also very nice, as were the recreational and sitting areas inside the facility. Horizon Bay Round Rock is a very good facility.
Brookdale Northwest Hills is a facility with modern charm. The interior of this facility is very grand and lavish with plenty of recent updating. It looks very modern, almost like a hotel in appearance. The outdoor area of the facility is well maintained as well. The facility has multiple floors and high ceilings that give it a luxury atmosphere while still remaining homey and comfortable.
This facility has wonderful outdoor areas. The outdoor area in the back has a concrete portion with covered patio table. There is also a portion with grass. What makes this outdoor area so special is the scenic views it provides as one looks over at the mountain like plains just beyond the facility. This outdoor area truly is a sight to behold. It looks like the perfect place to relax and enjoy the company of friends.
The dining area at Brookdale Northwest Hills is also a stunning sight to behold. This spacious and modern dining hall has plenty of seating and a restaurant quality appearance. This facility’s dining area truly feels like sitting and enjoying a meal at a five star restaurant. The food here is certainly five star restaurant quality too. The meals are well prepared and the variety in the menu is quite pleasing. The dining options here do not disappoint.
The living quarters of the residents are also charming masterpieces, with some rooms also having a view of the aforementioned mountain like area near the facility. Overall, this facility is quite stunning. Its views are something that can’t be duplicated and its meals are worthwhile. The outdoor area is certainly my favorite part of the facility as it has such a scenic view. If visiting this facility, I certainly recommend paying a visit to the outdoor area. It’s an amazing portion of this facility.
Brookdale Northwest Hills is a unique facility, as its location gives it a stunningly scenic view depending on where you are in the facility. The meals here had nice variety to them and the facility as a whole was very clean with modern décor. I certainly recommend paying a visit to this facility.
Brookdale Hollywood is a nice facility with great services and activities. I visited this property, and I found the facility to be located in an area that can be fairly congested at times. Although the area is not grand, I feel that the facility is designed well and is well-maintained.
Upon entering the facility, I noticed that everything was clean and open. There is nothing grand about the floor plan, but it is functional and cozy. The atmosphere is very warm and offers a comfortable environment.
The services at the facility are well above average. Many medical services are offered on site including physical therapy and occupational therapy. The therapy room contains weights and exercise equipment suitable for seniors at various stages of their endurance levels. There are also other services offered at this facility that are not usually found at assisted living facilities in this area such as podiatry and exercise classes.
The activities offer crafts, entertainment, and off site activities. Within two miles of the facility, there is a Sprouts Farmer's Market, a shopping center, and many restaurants and businesses. The activities and groups at this location offer great opportunities to form friendships and for seniors to express their personalities.
The menu offers many selections. I had the enchilada meal to go, and it was delicious. I felt there should be more variety in the meal choices because many of the menus seemed redundant. Overall, the food was above average.
I have viewed other facilities that offer more amenities. This facility does have most of what seniors will need to have a fairly independent life. The salon services, exercise, meals, and housekeeping promote comfort and health for all residents.
Brookdale Hollywood is moderately sized and priced. The staff are attentive and professional. There seemed to be few staff workers when I visited, but the workers present were working and actively caring for residents. This facility is certainly worth the look if you are looking for convenience and social interactions. Facility fits best seniors who need minimal assistance and attention, while receiving a considerate, well-trained caregiver whenever the need exists.
This is a great facility in a convenient area. Less than one mile from McAllister Park and surrounded by lush landscaping, Brookdale Maltsberger is an assisted living facility with style and comfort.
I visited the facility to help my friend locate a facility where he could be independent, while receiving assistance with his meals, activities of daily living, and housekeeping. I had visited many Brookdale facilities, but this one was one of the best. The residents have their own private rooms/apartments; still, they are able to socialize and interact with their peers. Everything needed is on site, and there is no need to venture off the property. However, for appointments, personal errands, and other off site needs, transportation is available at an additional cost.
There are tons of activities available that fit various personalities and needs. The activities are mostly on site and include games, parties, and classes. My friend enjoys theatre and comedy shows. It would be nice if this facility could add a few more activities in the future. Nonetheless, I was told by a staff member that suggestions for activities are accepted by the activity director. I did not have the opportunity to speak with the activity director, but if you are interested in new activities, be sure to address the activity director during your visit.
I liked the food here and the family-style dining facility. The food was above-average in my opinion and served hot. The dining area was clean and tables were set. The staff serve the residents, and they assist in feeding when necessary. I especially liked that there is no assigned seating- (many facilities have assigned seating) giving residents an opportunity to socialize and sit where they choose.
I think that this is a great facility because it is rather small in population, offers many services including nursing care, and provides activities, social interaction, nutritious meals, and assistance with showering, etc. This facility is not upscale but it is comfortable and there is a feeling of safety here. If you are looking for an assisted living facility for your loved one, Brookdale Maltsberger should be on your list of top ten to view.
Brookdale Lancaster has a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. The staff strives to promote good health. And is very informative for the family and residents. The activities are fun and enlightening. Events and special occasion are celebrated with family members as well as the community residents. The food is good and prepared by chefs with experience. The room floorplan are spacious and suitable for seniors.
Brookdale Desoto is located directly across form the well-known Windsor Park Baptist Church. The surrounding area is clean and seems safe. The facility is maintainted nicely. It feels warm and cozy throughout. The residents are vibrant and friendly. The staff is professional and informative. The activities coordinator to the residents care plan. The food is served resturant-style and snacks are provided throughout the day.
Brookdale Club Hill is not your average seniors living community. It's very clean and modern. The amenities and services makes life easier for the residents. The staff is nice and friendly. Their always available and helpful. The office team is very informative when sharing their loving concept for the residents. The apartment like rooms are large and homelike. The kitchen is fully equipped and some have balconies. The building is packed with amenities inside and out for the seniors. The activities extend to nearby attractions which the residents enjoy regularly. The residents can dine with others alike in a resturant-style dining room. The food is chef prepared and presented professionally. Seniors are very vibrant and seem content at this community.
I visited Brookdale Alamo Heights with a friend, and I really like this facility. The floorplans are open, and the rooms are spacious and clean. There are safety bars in the hallways and in the showers. Also, the staff is attentive to the residents and assist them when needed to assure that the residents are comfortable and secure at all times.
This community has a skilled nursing and an assisted living system on site. The dual system can be an asset, especially if a resident in the nursing section improves. I visited the assisted living section, and I noticed that the residents were mostly sitting in the seating areas and talking with one another. The facility is fairly quiet in the evening; although, the environment gets a little busy during lunchtime when most of the residents are down in the dining facilities eating their meal.
The food is very good here. During my visit, I had breakfast which consisted of bacon, grits, eggs, and juice. I also noticed that the staff who were assisting during breakfast went to the rooms of a few of the residents who they noticed were missing during breakfast. I asked one of the caregivers if that is a common practice at the facility. She informed me that they make sure the residents eat breakfast, and if they do not see them, they check on them to make sure they are fine.
The staff are kind, considerate, and hard-working. There is a moderate size population and only a few staff members here. Still, the staff is attentive, and they seem to know everyone on a first name basis. Moreover, this facility is cleaned throughout the day by housekeeping, and by the caregivers who all seem to work as a team and pick up things off the floor. There was not a lot of liter on the floor, but I did see a few things that had been dropped by a resident and picked up immediately.
The amenities include a beauty parlor, exercise, and media room. The activities are slightly above average. There is nothing grand in the variety, but there is a friendly, active director who tries to get the residents to participate as much as possible. Good facility for the nursing services, friendly staff, and competitive price.
Brookdale Western Hills is a very nice facility. There are a few amenities at Brookdale Western Hills that really stand out. This facility allows small pets, which might make this a great deal for some but a deal breaker for others. This facility also has a very nice outdoor garden area for those who’d like to get some fresh air. If you’d prefer to stay indoors, there’s also a sunroom open year round to residents.
The facility is reasonably clean. The recreational areas I visited were alright, but not quite exceptional. The outside looks well maintained with landscaping that really compliments the building. The atmosphere at Brookdale Western Hills is very intimate and family-like, with plenty of opportunities for socialization. There are multiple daily activities available to residents and plenty of variety. There’s surely an activity to suit everyone’s tastes here.
One of the pros of this facility is that it’s excellent for those with limited mobility as the facility is generally quite accessible. The décor of the facility is a tad bit outdated in some areas, but otherwise rather homey and understated. I saw plenty of indoor seating areas for residents and everyone I saw looked quite comfortable. There are also a few places to sit outside the facility.
This facility is located in a largely residential area and unfortunately there are not any major shopping centers in immediate proximity. There are gas stations nearby, but otherwise not any major establishments. For these reasons, some may feel Brookdale Western Hills’ location is not very ideal. If you’re looking for a facility with plenty of stores and restaurants nearby, you probably should pass on this facility.
The food in the facility tastes good, but there isn’t much variety in the meals. This might be fine for some but problematic for those with pickier pallets. Brookdale Western Hills is a very simple community, one that is not necessarily exceptional but still a worthy selection. I feel more menu options would certainly be helpful at this facility. All in all, Brookdale Western Hills isn’t for everyone----but the right place for some, depending on their tastes.
Horizon Bay is a great facility filled located within two miles of the medical center, HEB, Wells Fargo, Chase, Broadway Bank, Luby's cafeteria, and many other shops, salons, and restaurants. Major construction was recently completed near this area. During that time period, the noise level was relatively high at times. Currently, the area is quiet; although the roads can become a little full from 4pm-6pm during the week. The facility is located on a side road that normally has no traffic. Furthermore, the location is perfect for siting outdoors and taking a short walk.
The activity director here is very patient and professional. Most of the activities promote social well- being and allow the seniors to continue the social life style that they are accustomed to. There are dances, parties, and craft classes at this facility, and many other options are available.
The facility is not extravagant, but it has style. A very open floor plan, safety measures at the entrance/exit, and a unique design make this facility one to definitely explore. Everything is clean and maintained, and most of the staff were professional, friendly, and helpful.
The menu offers variety, while considering the nutritional needs of the residents. Many of these residents are diabetic and/or have other medical needs. The facility offers special care for these residents including transportation to appointments, dietary meal plans, and wellness checks. Most of the residents at this facility require some assistance with activities of daily living. A few of them also had additional assistance such as a private sitter.
There is no need to venture far from this facility. Most of what is needed to live a complete and healthy life is right on the property. The facility has a chapel, a media room, an activity/game room, salon services, a physical therapy area, and an awesome memory care program. The memory care program offers therapeutic exercises, family involvement, and a dedicated team of staff members that utilize the latest techniques in memory therapy.
Residents at that facility are moderately independent, and I noticed many residents walking around the facility and sitting in the living areas reading magazines/books. Horizon Bay San Antonio is a perfect home for seniors looking for assistance while maintaining their dignity and serenity.
Brookdale Lake Brazos has a lot of perks. Located on the banks of the river Brazos, residents can sit beneath one of the facility’s many pergolas and watch as the river goes by. This serenity makes the property a charming choice over other communities. This facility has wonderful outdoor amenities and has an overall charming, country feel to it.
While it’s placement near the Brazos river makes it unique, unfortunately it’s located a bit away from major shopping centers and therefore isn’t in that prime of a location. But this property has plenty of other strong points to make up for its locational shortfalls. The décor of the facility is homey and comfortable; almost reminisce of a country lodge.
While the décor is charming in itself, it may seem a bit outdated to those who are used to more modern furnishing. The recreational areas of the facility feel cozy and the residents I saw seemed to be enjoying the common areas. The staff appears to be reasonably friendly and based on what I’ve seen of it, the facility is quite clean.
Whether or not someone does or does not like this facility is more of a matter of personal taste. While I think this facility has plenty of strengths, there are areas of the facility that are in clear need of improvement. While the facility has spacious and flowing outdoor areas, the inside of the facility feels a bit cramped in some parts.
Though the décor has an unmistakable vintage appeal, I feel updated furnishings could better help modernize the facility. Brookdale Lake Brazos is overall a very solid performing facility with ample amenities and plenty of unique features that make it stand out. While there is room for improvement, in its current state, Brookdale Lake Brazos is worthy of consideration.
Brookdale Lake Brazos seems to also have a very close nit and friendly community, and residents seem to be generally enjoying themselves. There’s no shortage of common areas in the facility and there seems to be plenty of seating. For those who are looking for a facility with a great view, Brookdale Lake Brazos is likely the one for you.
The building is clean and inviting. The staff is genuinely caring and make you feel like family. The activities are stimulating and great for seniors to become socially involved. There is a hair stylist available for residents to be groomed professionally. At Brookdale Collin Oaks the wellness staff is informative and strive to keep the residents active. The food is wholesome and the culinary staff will make accommodations for vegetarians.
Brookdale Lakeshore is a facility certainly worth considering. Although not quite perfect, this facility has plenty of strengths that would make it a perfect choice depending on your needs. Common areas of the facility were generally quite clean.
There was a variety of food options available, making the facility a great choice for the discerning eater. One of the many perks of this facility is its private dining, an optional experience (available upon request) for those who’d like to privately dine with friends or family.
The facility has a very home-like and comfortable atmosphere with decor you’d probably find within your own home. In a similar way, the meals served seemed to be home-like and the residents appeared to be enjoying their meals. Meals are served three times a day with snacks available at any hour.
The recreational areas in the facility were a bit lacking, but nonetheless enjoyable. The facility is also located near shopping centers, eateries, and recreational services; a big plus for those who do not wish to travel far.
Overall, I believe Brookdale Lakeshore is a nice facility with plenty of potential. This facility also has an outdoor courtyard and garden area that was well maintained and appeared to be a great place to sit and relax.
Though not perfect in all arenas, Brookdale Lakeshore is an all-around winner. While the home-like feel of this community might appeal to some, depending on your taste, the furnishings might come off as a bit outdated. Despite this, Brookdale Lakeshore is still a strong contender. Members of the staff of whom I spoke with seemed friendly, knowledgeable and eager to insure the residents felt comfortable at all times.
One of the things that make this facility stand out above all others is its proximity to Lake Waco. I certainly recommend paying a visit to Brookdale Lakeshore. Though not without its imperfections, Brookdale Lakeshore has the potential to be a wonderful residence for your loved one. This facility is worth paying a visit to, and its homey atmosphere is one that will leave you feeling as if you’ve never left home.
Brookdale Spring Creek is nice but, could use a little more updating on the interior. The staff is okay and cordial. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. The residents seemed content but, I would have love to see them be more vibrant. The food is served 3 times a day, restaurants style in a cozy and bright dining room. The rooms are a decent size as well as storage space, and the bathrooms are suitable with step-in showers. There are many great activities planned for each month that promotes health and wellness. The library is large and a great area to get lost and a novel. Overall, I think this senior community is lovely that is trying to improve the the residents quality of life daily.
Brookdale Palestine maybe a smaller community, but they are not lacking on quality or care. The staff members here seem very caring and they even allowed me to join their residents' bingo game. The residents seem to really like the staff because they were talking to them like family or even long time friends. This community is well staffed, clean, neat, and well organized.
Brookdale Northwest Hills is a beautiful facility. When I saw one of the members of the staff pushing a resident in a wheelchair. It touched me, because they were laughing and having what seemed to be a nice conversation. This showed me that this is more than just a job... they actually at this facility and that's what I look for. I tasted their vegetable soup and it was great! While I was eating I realized how clean and nicely decorated the restaurant area was.
Town Village North Dallas is a facility that shows southern hospitality. The staff and residents make the place feel very welcoming. With that being said I was able to taste some of their food. They had many options to choose from, so I had chicken, corn, and a salad. It was delicious and it wasn't too heavily seasoned. They also have a nice patio and nice patio furniture. The rooms were a nice size compared to other facilities I've visited. They have plenty of space and they are nicely decorated.
The location is the best part of this facility. It is located about one mile from HEB, Wells Fargo bank, and many shopping centers and salons. The property is clean, beautifully landscaped, and quiet. The facility is clean inside with a wide open floor plan and a functional layout. Inside, it is very quiet and peaceful.
The dining room is fair in design, but the food is good. I did not like the pork steak, but the sides were good and flavorful. I didn't see much variety in the menu, but the residents do have the opportunity to choose from at least three entrees. The staff members do and awesome job in making sure that all of the residents in the dining area are served and eat some of their meal. They walk around and ask if everyone is doing well. They are attentive and caring.
Activities here seemed to be a bit lacking. There are game days, but not enough variety. I noticed that most residents here preferred to stay in the room or socialize in the sitting areas. A handful of residents were outside on the patio. It seemed that there may need to be a few more activities to spark the interest of some of the residents.
Amenities are great here. There are rooms to exercise, spaces to read, and nice rooms inside where the residents live. Very friendly residents, although most were reserved in conversation. There is not a lot of liveliness here, but there were a few of the residents who appear upbeat.
This Brookdale Medical Center Whitby suits best seniors who do not like a lot of interruptions and prefer to stay in their rooms and read a book rather than participate in a lot of activities. This is a good facility for seniors needing assistance with living tasks because the staff here are very attentive. I may have chosen this facility for my father who does not like to participate in many outdoor activities. Still, I would have preferred him to participate more and have activities that he could enjoy such as picnics, barbecues, and volunteer options.
Emeritus at Amber Oaks is a good facility for the price. The facility is located in a good neighborhood where traffic is moderate during business hours, but not bad at other times. Within two miles of the facility, there are parks, shopping centers, and restaurants.
The facility is clean and well-maintained.The activities at this facility are adequate and meet the various needs of the residents. Bingo games, card games, arts and crafts, day trips off site to shopping centers, etc., are some of the many activities that keep these residents busy. I did not see any of the activities in progress during my visit. However, I was shown an activity sheet of some of the activities that take place. Since this is not a nursing home, but an assisted living facility, there is not a lot of medical intervention taking place. Still, there is physical and occupational therapy to help the residents stay healthy.
I was not impressed with the menu choices, but the food was descent when I visited. I had a type of steak dish with a baked potato. The food was hot and served to me. I think that staff do a great job in making sure all the residents are fed in a timely matter.
There are a lot of amenities here. There is a gym, salon, game room, and much more. The facility does seem to be a bit dated, and the atmosphere was not as bright and open as I expected. There are a lot of residents at this facility, and everyone I observed seemed to be getting their needs met. The staff was engaging with the residents, and they were also friendly. In locating a facility for my loved one, I ask many questions. The staff seemed to be willing to answer all of my questions, and they were professional and helpful. I decided that this facility was not for my loved one, but I think for many residents, this is a great place to call home.
Emeritus at Amber Oak is affordably priced. So, if you are looking for affordability and adequate care, you should put this facility on your list of places to visit.
This facility is in a very busy location, but its convenience to the Medical Center make it a great place for seniors. Brookdale N. Fredericksburg is also within a one mile radius to restaurants, banks, and shopping. This street poses a challenge for seniors interested in walking or driving during the day.
The staff members here are good, but for seniors needing a lot of attention, this may not be the place for you to call home. Most of the residents are independent in some way. About half of the residents seem to get around well with a walking device such as a walker or walking cane. I am not sure the number of residents who reside here; however, I feel that when I visited, there were not a lot of staff working on the floor. Still, the staff that were available to assist me were helpful.
The facility was clean and the landscaping neat. There are a lot of places for the residents to sit out and enjoy when the weather is nice. Also, a few of the residents had private caregivers who came to assist them. This may be an option for families who have loved ones who require a little more assistance.
This facility is well priced and compatible to other assisted living facilities. Residents who are able to drive have the option to, but transportation is available at an additional cost. I really like this facility because they offer a variety of activities that foster physical fitness, mental awareness, and social connections. There was a birthday party taking place during my visit, and the residents were singing and dancing. They also have movie night, game night, and arts/crafts classes. I would like to see a computer course here for the seniors who desire to learn. Still, the activity director here is friendly and upbeat.
For the senior who needs assistance with activities of daily living and medication reminders, Brookdale N. Fredericksburg is a good choice in a decent location. The medical center, grocery stores, and restaurants are near this facility. Moreover, most of what is needed for residents is provided on site.
Parklane West is an assisted living and skilled nursing facility located near the San Antonio zoo. When I visited this facility, I was looking for a skilled nursing facility where the staff were friendly and caring. I noticed that this facility has that. The staff assisted me in receiving the information needed to make a selection.
This is a facility for residents needing assistance with activities of daily living. There are many services here on site as well including physical and occupational type therapy. Activities are adequate here and meet the needs of the residents. I saw an art class in progress during my visit where the residents were painting ceramics. I also noticed the most of the residents here are really friendly and enjoy conversing. There were also a few residents sitting outside socializing with one another.
A few residents had sitters or family assisting them as well. One resident had a private nurse assist her during a walk around the facility. The nursing staff seemed to be very busy here, but were helpful when I had questions. They also were periodically checking in one the residents during the day and filling water pitchers, etc. What I liked about the staff is that although they were busy, they took the time to care for their residents and perspective clients.
There is no need to ever leave the facility except for a medical appointment. There are barber/beauty services, hot meals, physical activities, card games, parties, music, and many other social events here. The facility is adequate and will meet the needs of residents who require nursing assistance. Parklane West is also very affordable and offer many payment options. They accept Medicaid and Medicare here, and will assist you in finding payment options. Also, many activities have been implemented for the residents, and lots of engaging social events are available. There is not a lot of variety of activities for the skilled nursing residents, and this is something the resident's family can request during the visit. Overall, nice facility and nice staff is what you will find at the Parklane West.
